Pashtu is an Iranian language and whole Afghanistan, with exception of the Hazara, are Iranians by origins, whether Tajik or Pashtu.

One doesn't exclude the other. Kurds call themselves Kurds, while they speak an Iranian language and are part of the Iranian people. Just like Ossetians, Pashto, Tajiks, Zazas, etc.
