Floods in Pakistan

Metro bus har cheez ka solution, Pakistan does not need dams. These floods would never had happened if Kala Bagh dam & other dams were made.

From last three years that cm punjab with his famous long shoes go to effected areas for cheap publicity but never thinks of making any dam to prevent that flood again but oh i forget they want publicity whether cheap

You guys really need to pull up your socks and start doing something to preserve this flood water for summers and also to prevent further floods. Climate will change following an exponentially curve, i.e after reaching a threshold level, it will change very rapidly without giving any time to humans.

This is well covered , with out DAM in country , such floods will continue 365 days is enough time to create cannals or DAMs to distribute water peacefully

For nation with 180 Million people , and resources we have its sad we can't make a suitable cannal / DAM or artificial lake

These floods happen suddenly almost every year without any warning since before 1947. How is it possible for any government to predict them?

There is no Alauddin's lamp which you rub and a Genie comes out and tells you predictions about floods. Nor there is any magic glass ball in which you can see when and where floods will occur.

No one can take measures against what the nature and fate has in store for the country. After all the governments are run by humans not AI robots or angels and they appoint humans not AI robots or angels to run the different departments and ministries as per the constitution.

No where in the world do floods occur like this out of the blue without any warning. In other countries floods happen but mother nature has a special hotline with the government where it sends an email to the government informing about the course, duration and time of the floods. Mother Nature also make a phone call to make sure that the email has been received. Hence they do not have the element of surprise and unpredictability in those countries and the authorities are not caught pants down.

The constitution has some flaws that cause several misunderstanding in how to run a country after all it was written and compiled by humans not AI robots or angels.

Humans are bound to make errors.

Forgot to add:

in those other countries they also have state of the art AI which analyzes the information received by email from mother nature to check it’s credibility. Once confirmed as positive then they (the AI) sends an email to all the departments and ministries. Not only that but the AI tells which department / ministry has to do what. All humans then act accordingly.

If it happens every year it's enough warning

  • 12 MINUTES AGO AUGUST 02, 2015 11:20PM
THE death toll from three weeks of flooding in Pakistan has surpassed the 100 mark.

FLASH floods killed 109 people and some 700,000 have been affected, the National Disaster Management Authority said on Sunday.

Military engineers repaired roads and bridges in the mountainous north to help rescuers reach people cut off for weeks, the authority said.

River Indus, which flows down from the Himalayas to the Arabian Sea, flooded at several points in southern Sindh province, meteorological department chief Ghulam Rasool said.

More rain is expected, Rasool said.

Around 350,000 people have been evacuated from the banks of the Indus in past two days.

Send them a metro project ....the need of the hr as many claim it!

lol now metro stations are storing lots of water  for them dam is not a necessary thing metro will handle all issues dumb future plans

Indus is in very high flood at Sukkur and Guddu.
Netherlands is far worse than the Indus area yet they make it their priority to do something about it.....and so far it isnt blaming the water ....or its land!

They don't have jahils in the name of government.

Actually, Pakistan dealt with such rains and floods pretty well in 1950s-1980s. It is the result of the haphazard urbanization, farming and soil erosion that causes the rivers to burst their banks on otherwise rain water that could easily pass through. The frequency and damage of flooding is going up.

My grandfather was a civil engineer and surveyor in the federal government. He was responsible for plenty of infrastructure, flood management, and he used to to tell us interesting stories, that how well the natural course of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab allows them to pass flood water. He served from 1947-1980 when he finally retired.
