Ilyasi mosque, constructed in 1932, was built on a small piece of land but the water of the stream which is said to have curative properties and serves as a cool drink on hot summer days made it a popular spot. As a public place, it offered business opportunities which a pakora maker exploited to full advantage. If you grew up in Pakistan you obviously know what a pakora is, it is the quintessential South Asian snack found in every street corner, whether its summer or winter.
The Ilyasi Masjid is famous for having some of the best pakoras in Pakistan. The proximity of the Ilyasi Masjid is very convenient for travelers as it is on the road that leads to Nathia Gali. Travelers make a pit stop here before continuing towards their journey uphill.

So so overrated!
The Saleem Bahi kay Turkie Pakoray are much better near Sarai Salah. :)
Plus there are many more better than Ilyasi Masjid baba jee k pakoray!

Used to love them as a kid. They have that ever famous maroon chatni.

Haven't eaten the ilyasi masjid pakorey.

Have eaten the Sarai salah ones several times. They are taste wise ok but they oomph it up by using achar and the chatni.

Have heard that they have reduced the quantity somewhat now. Moreover, the expressway has rerouted some traffic which results in lower market share.

Its raining outside and so much talk of pakoras going on!! Time to head home and fry some! :D

Yes, expressway have reduced their customer base significantly. They use to be the only place where a DAEWOO BUS SERVICE will make a stop (only one outside their service areas or stations) as they never stop other than their station. However here the hostess will take orders before hand, call the vendor to get this many plates ready and stop for a minute to collect. Impressive.
