Enlist Pakistan as state sponsor of terrorism: US Congress committee

That is some serious rebuke from US congress: putting Pakistan as state sponsor of terrorism, supporting self determination for Balochistan etc... Seem US - Pakistan relations have seriously deteriorated since the drone killing of Mansour in Pakistan.

Despite that, they shamelessly ask Pakistan to do more. Go figure. Can't do that when you put Pakistan on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. I really do hope that the Americans put their money where their mouth is though. That will finally be a relief for Pakistan.

I'm not a fortuneteller, but I can already tell you how this is going to end up. Pakistan is going end up getting more F-16s.

The Americans are only shooting themselves in the foot. On the one hand, the Americans have a very long wishlist from Pakistan which they don't hide from anyone. On the other hand, they are reacting aggressively which isn't even yielding any results.

But their wishlist is general purpose wishlist: Stop cooperating with China; Stop building nukes; stop supporting Taliban type.

These are not core interest of USA and your refusal to cooperate would not affect them adversely.

If you build more nukes (If you can build nukes in large number given limited quantity of Uranium with you ), it is basically India's, Israel's, and Iran's problem, not of USA.

If you cooperate with China, again it is more of India's problem, rather than USA. USA would just treat you as people in enemy's camp (what it is doing. Instead what you are witnessing is aftermath of Pakistan choosing side, not cause). US-Indian alliance get stronger by these actions, a net gain for USA.

Taliban? Seriously what difference do dead Afghan make to USA! US is not engaged in active combat and are confined to their base (neither they have wish to enforce order in Afghanistan). Taliban could not capture Kabul until there is even a single US soldier in Afghanistan, and some Talibs and ANA killing each other is some kooks killing kooks from USA's perspective.

What's intresting is the words "state Sponsor", we all know what comes after that.

You're wrong because right now the US is exactly behaving like India's problems are US problems. That's not entirely a surprise though. India is steering Pakistan policy in Washington. The US doesn't have its own independent Pakistan policy. The Americans are behaving in a knee-jerk fashion because they thought they could isolate and blackmail Pakistan into submission. Such tactics just haven't worked. Also, what they couldn't entirely calculate is China's influence, the mess in Afghanistan and Pakistan's role in the entire scenario. Frankly, they have never been able to figure it out because their own policies are conflicting and unclear. They are always reluctant. The Americans always dangle with the stick, but cannot use it to beat Pakistan. The last time they tried doing that, Pakistan achieved certain things that the Americans regret till this day. It haunts them and applying sanctions or cutting off relations with Pakistan brings back certain haunting memories.

The Americans think that they are humiliating or forcing Pakistan by employing such childish tactics. It doesn't make one iota of difference to Pakistan what a bunch of irrelevant lawmakers in the US say or do. History has taught us one thing. The Americans always come back to their senses once the rhetoric subsides.

After all they are not running Pakistan, so they ask Pakistan to do more. But US seem to be more furious with Pakistan's double dealings on WOT. Majority of international terrorists since 9/11 have been found and killed in Pakistan. And, surprisingly, not one was killed by Pakistan, but all by US inside Pakistan territory.

It is not as simple as that.

When US sanctions a country, it also sanction any private or public entity that does not stop trading with sanctioned country. In effect USA's sanctions become global sanctions in effect as nearly every company has business interest in US or with US companies.

Exhibit A: Iran. US, practically, did not had any trade with Iran, but US sanction still devastated Iranian economy as no one was willing to risk sanctions by trading with Iran. India has to find a shity UCO bank to pay Iran oil money as that bank had no interest in USA or was not doing any business with US companies. Ambanis ,willfully stopped refining Iranian crude ,and made modification in their refinery to refine crude of a diferent grade, because they had major interest in shale fields of USA.
Thanks for reply. I do know what and how santions work. I wanted to know the depth of effect as Pak already had that once.

We're waiting for that to happen. The next American president can also prepare to take the supplies of his armed forces from the other side of the world into Afghanistan. Not only that, he should also be prepared to witness that Afghanistan has a sealed border with Pakistan.
Pakistan asks for the services it renders to the US. They are free to airlift their supplies back and forth from Afghanistan.

Cheers.

That bluff can be easily called off as and when there is chahabahar option for US to use.

We have been hearing this for so long now. It is more like an Indian wish, but wishes don't always come true.
To get an idea you just have to see where was Pakistan 10 yrs ago and where it is today.i dont wish sanctions on Pakistan but if it happens that will be brutal on Pakistan.

Cutting aid is not enough, USA should also place harsh sanctions on pakistan, for the interest of peace in the subcontinent.
