Instead of getting an Air Craft Carrier, we should get the Chinese to set up a Naval Base. Gwadar or Oran should be good.

That would be a bigger threat to India than if Pakistan had 10 Air Craft Carriers.

You should wish for development of your own country rather than wishin for others destruction.

Not really.

Americans in Japan, South Korea and Germany have kept the Russians and Chinese at bay.

China is our trusted Ally and Friend. If it opens up a Naval Base which will guarantee our strategic security, then all the better I say.

If we rejected the FREE destroyer because it needed 300 trained soliders and our nation of 180 Million people (180,000,000) cannnot train 300 soliders for FREE destroyer

So we can obviously not train crew of Aircraft carrier and by the way we don't have the planes that can fly from a aircraft carrier you need twin engine planes most of time for dependability in Oceans

We should stick to Gun Boats and Frigates once we have 30 of each then may be we can look at Carrier

AC carrier does not fit in Pakistan Navy's combat doctrine of Coastal defense. Even if Pakistan Navy decides to go for Sea Denial role, it wouldn't have to have a Aircraft carrier. Pakistan is in desperate need of AIP equipped conventional submarines and area defense destroyers with some lethal SAMs installed on board.

BTW, AC Carrier is a white elephant. Increasing the number of AIP equipped subs and advance SAM equipped destroyer is the need of the day for PN.

You cant build a REAL NAVY on a peanut Budget.

Pak Naval Doctrine is a nice diplomatic Way to say We cant create or build a BLUE WATER NAVY cause we just don,t have the resources.

USA Russia China (3 soon) France UK India Brazil and iTLAY & sPAIN
Every one of those nations has a $30billion+ annual defense budget and massive exports/trade. They need big navies to control their seas lanes.

THe point is If china builds it no doubt India wlll follow suit, since its able launch satalight and has done so in the past, which put Pakistan in a very dis-adavantage.

I think the Carriers are like the Battleship of the past - small fast moving warships and submarines with small drones and Cruise missiles will play a MAJOR role in Maritime Warfare in 21 century instead of Big bulky ships like Carriers who are a greater targets for Missiles.

Second, it would be a matter of time when Jet fighters will become so advance in speed, flight range and time that the need of carrier will be come completely redundent.
Israel started this with f-16i and think Russia has something as well.
Just think what Carrier is for, to launch fighters at sea. If such jetfighter in the future can get to hot spot in 15 min half way across the world, still have enough fuel to stay in battle for 8 hours and then after that has enough fuel to go back home safetly - who needs an aircraft carrier ?

Pakistan should not go for the carrier at all and concentrate on Subs and drone carriers. A HEllicopter pad carrier or a ship thats no bigger than 180 meter like Príncipe de Asturias from spain, if they realy really really need one badly, but not a big massive one like Enterprise or Nimitz Class.

furthermore, if it does decide to have then pakistan needs to have a good portion of these small CArriers to be effective instead having one small carrier so money is a Major issue which Pakistan can not thrown away lavishly.

In conclusion, Pakistan Navy is much better off in having Subsmarines and Frigates or a ship that able to carry multiple of drones for sea, submerdged and air and launch them in large amount .

but France and UK operates meduim sized carriers in small amounts

What is Pakistan's entire anaual budget for defence again? Plus you just cant buy a carrier, you need lots other vessels to support as well. Such as frigates, subs, destroyers etc. I haven't even included the training to run the carrier yet.

The US has a a huge coast line, as does China and India thus the need for an aircraft carrier.

Pakistan has a small coast line in comparison, two naval aviation bases seem like a more realistic option of PN.

not to mention money... Pakistan cannot afford a carrier at this point and time!

This is simply out of question.

1. Cost would be a concern.
2.It would need naval aircraft that could take off from it(again going back to more cost and maintenance)
3. Escorts (Pakistan only has 4 modern frigates to spare and they are not geared for AAW besides basic point defense)
4. Where exactly is Pakistan planning on extending its forces that it needs a carrier to provide air support ? Your only threat borders most of your country.
5. Pakistan is trying to phase out and replace what it already has like the type 21s and Agosto 70s. Why would a Aircraft Carrier be brought into the picture ? (This is something countries that are trying to get blue water capable navy think about obtaining.)

Even Turkey which has the largest navy in the ME has no reason to buy one. Many other needs more vital to a navy of our size need to be filled first and the same goes to a great extent for Pakistan. Unlike us though where we have to defend against threats coming from the Russian Black Sea fleet,Greece and other ME countries. Pakistan only has India.
