Growlers provided we get source code and tot are ok, even we can buy them in huge nos like 5-6 squadrons . At the end of the day we should be able to link them with IAFs Mki,Mig29,Rafale and IN Mig29k . Atleast growler shouldnt jam them and communicate , also we should make sure US wont have its kill switch . That happens only when we know source and assemble here .

Wou Wou...hold on mate, that's hell of a stretch, do you really think they will give sensitive technology you just mentioned ?

Converting into something like growler doesn't mean using growler's systems. We can go for Indian, Israeli or Russian.

IAF can take 7 years for a tender & IN cannot take even 3 years for it, that's not fair.....

well i think IN was waiting for the result of the IAF mmrca competition & to make commonality with the IAF jets it will buy in all probability Rafale M unless we get F-35s from the Americans, so no need to invite bids for it.

there is no debate needed, IAF will go for 90 mig 29ks & some NLCA for both INS Viky & IAC-1, IN will surely go for some other jet for IAC-2.

Commit with Dassault ..or put just NLCAs if it caN meet the requirements at the expected time.

Lets assume 90 mig and 50 NLCA.. the both AC can use a total of 70 AC.. Still 50 are left optional which can be deployed in IAC 2!!

I don't think IN now plans to operate every fighter from AC's (they made a blunder of sorts by buying limited no. of sea harriers with INS viraat, they would not like to make that mistake again), they will also want to operate some of them from there shore based facility such as that in Goa, 50 will make two squadrons, which is a good no. 1 squadron can be put on eastern seaboard & 1 for western. In all probability mig-29k & NLCA will operate only from INS viky & IAC-1.

Maybe anti ship, but not anti sub...
moreover during War, AF assets will be busily protecting indian airspace... It will be a extra burden for them to protect naval assets too...
It will be good if the navy protect their own assets with little help from AF..

Nothing comes close to EA18G systems . It can even hide/secure 3-4 Su30mkis under its field .
