This was a perfect opportunity when China was extremely weak, and the annexation by Japan seemed to be imminent, but they still couldn't grasp a such golden opportunity.

A true superpower wouldn't let a baited big fish to swim away like this.

Also, unfortunately, out of Japanese Pan-Asianism there arose a bloody colonialism, rather than harmony, Asian union and mutual development.

Ever since, every small/medium country in the region is bloody scared of any sort of Asian unity/bloc and instead seek external balancing -- out of their historical experience under Japan's co-prosperity sphere.

This opened up for greater US presence, which is destabilizing.

Nobody has shown just how China can add 22 trillion dollars in 15 years to be twice as big as USA is now, even if USA achieves zero growth. All these claims are nothing more than hot air (and some wonderful Chinese fireworks).

I have no problems with CHina rising ( though I think that the per capita the US has now cannot be matched by china in a long time). If they do, good for them.

But What I do know is this---- under all circumstances UK's POV arounf that is completely irrelevant. UK taking sides is similar to Luxembourg takins sides- who cares?

I don't even know what you guys are talking about anymore. What 'challenge? Is it not true that the success you're blaring about is essentially because of the adoption of free market policies pioneered by the west? When you are using their own techniques to grow, does it not show that their view of the world was better than yours?
