Celebrations in Srinagar after Pakistan win​

SRINAGAR: Residents in ‘Indian administered’ Kashmir Sunday fired crackers in the region's main city after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to win the World Twenty20 championship, witnesses said.

Srinagar erupted in celebration after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets and as scores of Kashmiri youth poured on to the streets and lit firecrackers.

The youths also chanted pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans as Indian paramilitary troops stayed in their bunkers, witnesses said.

Thousands of Kashmiris, including women and children, were glued to their televisions sets to watch the tense final.

‘It is a great victory and one day I hope we will merge with Pakistan,’ said a die-hard Pakistani cricket fan, Mohammad Yaseen.

Residents in Muslim-majority Kashmir valley traditionally support Pakistan in sports events.

Kashmiris are Pakistanis also. The "K" in PAKISTANI was meant for Kashmiris, they have every right to celebrate.


Pakistanis everywhere in the world are celebrating today, it doesn't matter where you are in the world today...if you are Pakistani you are very happy today.

IMO, Hindu will never absorb 'Pakistan doing well'. They hate us so much that it makes me sick when I see pakistanis going crazy for bollywood stupid mindless movies.

wherever you go on internet, one sees indians somehow trying to pick on Pak and trying to mallign us. sure there woudl be exceptions but for a billion plus nation, those exceptions are negligible.

I am thankful to all the Kashmiris who are celeberating in Joy today over today's victory. If our team has brought smiles on us and have given us an unforgetable day, please add the numbers of Kashmiris too. They have never had enjoyable occassions from last so many decades, but rather mournings and demonstarions over rapes, murders and injustices.
