Britain may sell aircraft carrier to India to limit cuts

well F35 is coming soon in south asia...baby.....:).......indians are a truly cultural multi specialist thats what the armed forces inventory look like....russian, british, american's AC.....F35's MIG35's, Sukhoi's....great..what a mix.....cool stuff....

On the contrary, there are only international flavors, and no flavor of India itself, well not much, which is a shame

No f-35 for India it would bring an "END" to indo-russian longhaul relationship..over n out. It is better to invest in indigenous AC rather then wasting money here and there.

I agree with you, I know that the indegenous carriers construction is underway, however, I dont know much details, I hope this particular discussion can dig up more info on that. Its class, its configuration, its capabilities etc as compared to the carriers shown in the diagrams. I am of question, as to why did the british not go in for a nuclear powerd AC escepcially a new one with bigger specs ??????? India should work with counrties (especially France) as it did with Russia for the Arihant to develop nuclear reactor for such AC and use them for our future AC's . I think the QE , AC would be great for India, but I also believe it should be nuclear powered.

Why is it a shame, we dont have the capability for such hi tech, and neither does our strongest rival China, so we buy , we have no option, until maybe in the unforseen future, India can come up with something. That is why I support India in all its small measures of R&D in aviation. I only hope to live to see its fruition

imo, nothing to be shame and nothing to be proud of either.
in fact it's a logistic nightmare to some extend, of course many indian members here won't agree with me.

I agree with the logistical nightmare ;)

UK Ministry of Defence 'officially' rubbishes the Guardian report.

Looks like Prince of Wales is not so keen on getting an Indian passport afterall! :D

'Speculation' of aircraft carrier sale to India

An article in The Guardian suggests that the MOD is considering selling one of the two future aircraft carriers to India to ease the strain on the Defence Budget. This is unfounded speculation. There has been no approach by the Indian Navy to the MOD about purchasing a future aircraft carrier.
