I am older, I got this info before right-wing nut-jobs were popular (back in the 70's when Islam wasn't on the radar). Just a mis-understanding of other cultures. It is not meant to be insulting, just wanted to know I am sure we all wash our hands, so it doesn't really matter.

a radical muslim cleric in briton in favor of Shariah is preaching his followers to use the left hand for shaking hands with non- muslims- the reason is clear- the left one is usually considered as dirty
