Someone think Indonesia cant bought large number of fighter and bomber and just sitting idly when conflict will arise. When necessity is arise so will with our resolution, we just can spending half of our State budget for five to ten straight years just like what happened in 60s decade, and build formidable fleets of Naval and Airforce. Even the Brits along with their allies in 60s must calculated everything meticulously when facing against our forces.

So can every other country that spends well below its means on the military.

All depends on, China spend less than two per cent of their total GDP on military only about 1.5 per cent but still with their economy might thats a great number and second only after US. Country like Japan is only spent less than one per cent of their total gdp and they dont put all of their industry toward military like what happened in israel in which most of large industries in Israel related to military and supporting units but no one can deny Japan and China capabilities to drive their economy and industry toward total war economy is far greater than most countries in this world bar usa. And even for China their military are already frightening even when their economy is mostly geared for economy and infrastructure development.

Only middle east countries and some in South Asia along with rogue nation like North korea is like to spend huge sum of their budget toward military and sacrificing a lot of civic development area. They will be left behind by ASPAC region sooner or later.
