Bangladesh Air Force will buy 23 more K-8W trainers for dedicated acrobatic team

I do not know, who exactly were killed during a coup attempt in 1977 when the Japanese Red Army hijacked a JAL plane and force-landed it to Dhaka. But, some air force pilots and others tried to stage a coup taking opportunity of the hijack event. It was unsuccessful, though. The then government crushed it and the coup leaders were brought to justice. They were killed by a firing squad.

So, their killing was not a ploy to cripple our air force. No government can forgive such attempts, however apt the pilots might have been.
In fact, that coup was conducted by AF NCOs against the government, and they killed the AF officers!!! Thanks to the heavy infestation of commie ideology in the ex-MB rebels among the commmon soldiers, many BD officers lost their lives to their own soldiers!!!

In fact BD soldiers were instigated by some ex MB rebel officers who wanted communist style revolution in BD!! And, ex MB rebels among civilians and military were their main recruits. Even Mujib killed 40 thousand of such ex MB rebels during his rule because of their involvement in insurgencies against the government! What an irony of fate - the most hard core MB insurgents were killed not by the Pak Army but by Mujib en masse!!! Zia-ur Rehman finished the rest of them!! So, within 10 years of the creation of BD the most die hard MB folks were greatly eliminated by BD leaders themselves!!!

Does MB means Mukti Bahini?? If so there was only 26000 freedom fighters during 90000 Pak army's surrender. The figure won't be more than 30000 i think. Where did you get this figure?? Can you show any proof?? It's not easy to kill 40000 people in 4 years. Yes there was coup against Zia staged by Air Force officials and JASOD was involved. But the number of were prosecuted were not more than 1000 and most of them were officers and soldiers.
India trained more than 100K MBs...

Actually I hope this news is true. BAF will grow to 160 4+/5 gen fighters by 2030 and so around 100 trainers are required.
Most of the fault for the condition of BAF
lies with BNP who stopped the completion of
AL order for 16+16 Mig-29s.
Like you already mentioned BAF only placed a tender for combat jets last year. We shall see orders this year or next and when it comes it would negate MAF superiority in one go. Afterall
bulk of their fleet will be made up of Mig-29 and JF-17. Even Mig-35 can shoot both down with ease.
23 K-8s would cost around 200 million dollars
- you can get 3 SU-30SME for that price. These
trainers are hardly costing BD that much money.

can we even afford that many aircraft to procure, let alone maintain them? AFAIK, we were suppose to have 6 squadrons of combat aircraft by 2030.

HAHAHAHha BETTER OF WITH MORE F7 BG1 lol

JF17 would have been better add

I know what the stupid sushil OTI Bangalis talk about the military. But, pilot training is a necessary component of purchasing new planes. As far as I know, an air force needs three pilots for each plane. So, if the number of jet plane becomes someday 160 units, at least 450 pilots or something like that is required to be trained.

I think, the buying of training planes and building two completely new air bases show that the BAF will induct many new 4.5G multi role combat planes within the goal of 2030. No air force would ever buy $200 million worth training planes unless it is willing to buy new combat planes.

Your logic is correct. I think a BAF pilot goes through 5 stages of actual flight training.... the fifth stage being the jet the are going to specialise in .... F7 or the Migs.

Currently we have 25+ trained pilots for each of these active assets. We need to ensure trainers are available absolutely.... the training programme in BAF is 1.5 to 2 years but currently lasts around 3 years.

The point is BAF procurement actions are illogical. The YAKs which are 4th level trainers should have arrived no more than a year before the primary mission capable assets.

K8s will be level 3 training aircrafts. It’s great we are buying them to replace old models. But let’s be clear we have a fully established training path with necessary assets already in place.

The only piece missing are actual jets. You can not fully train the pilots unless you have the fighters and you can not train all the level 4 trained pilots at the same time for their final jets.

BAF is run by idiots. I take no pleasure in calling them clowns. Politics or otherwise BAF has lost credibility in my mind and their actions give credence to the hypothesis that they lack a coherent strategy. It’s a rudderless ship.... BAF leadership needs to be removed and the whole project needs to be restarted with a clean sheet because it at this stage the disfunctionality is complete.

YOu missed one point, BD cant afford to keep pilots in the air and have them enough flying hours due to budget constraints. Buying enough of low cost and low maintenance aircraft like K-8 will allow them the flexibility of have enough flying hours. We are not in immediate war scenario yet we need advance fighter plane. That does not mean we should ignore our immediate need of having our pilots in the air.

Give 2 billion dollars to the BAF top notches to buy their choice planes and immediately they will run the airplane purchases in a way that will bring a wide grin to your mouth. BAF pilots and officers have the best and quickest mind. People with only a quick mind are selected and trained for air combat. So, they know very well what they are doing.

where is @UKBengali with tall tale claim "in next 10 years awami league will procure 160 4+/5 gen fighters"??
Vai, eibar ektu maf Kora zay na? Bangladeshi hoye indian der uskani deyar suzog na dilei ki Noy?
(why don't you let this subject go? Is it necessary provoking indian against us? We are fighting and they are laughing!)

Would it provoke India if Bangladesh got a real air force?

Would it provoke India if China got the contract for Sonadia port?

Indians were jumping up and down like monkeys when BD got the two Ming subs.
What do you think?

can we even afford that many aircraft to procure, let alone maintain them? AFAIK, we were suppose to have 6 squadrons of combat aircraft by 2030.

BD is set to grow to a trillion dollar economy by 2030.

Looks like trainers are the max allowed for BD!! And, they're buying all the trainers of the world!!! I'd rather have Niazi Pasha surrender every day than to be under such "absolute capitulation" condition!!!! Many Pak folks think what can be worse than having US drones murdering poor tribals!!! Well, now we have a worse situation out here....

they buy whatever India allows them to

You mean the obsolete trainer subs, rather than the Yuan-class AIP submarines that Pakistan and Thailand are buying?

BN had no previous expertise with submarines so it was a logical step to get these subs. They are enough and has sufficient deterrent capabilities.

BD threat scenario is not the same as Pakistan and Thailand also have had an aircraft carrier for over a decade without planes. These three countries are not comparable.

BN progression is as per plan.... something that can not be said about BAF.
