What's new

Atleast 100 injured over watching Indian Bengali serial in Sylhet, Bangladesh

.
what do your rich fat rich women in dhaka watch? not politics am sure..

They watch Indian serials in Hindi and Bengali channels. Star Jalsha and Star Plus are the most popular channels in BD.

BD channels hardly show any entertaining shows. All channels show news and political talk shows. So viewers who seek entertainment have no other options than Indian channels.

Recently a new BD channel Deepto TV showing a Turkish TV serial in Bengali which is very popular but Bangladeshi Bengali shows don't cater the attention of viewers hence the craze for Indian Bengali and Hindi serials.

To counter that Bengali dubbed Turkish serial instead of making a good Bengali serial another channel is showing a very old Indian Hindi serial Tipu Sultan in Bengali which was earlier shown in state owned BTV in 90's.

You can say Bangladeshis pretty much depend on Indian channels for entertainment.

thats sad because bengalis are known to make good drama... i know my bd friends like natok, probably its for semi-literate people.

It seems Bangladeshis are very find & passionate of their serials & entertainment...

Or as one poster already posted, this was just a fight between 2 women which unfortunately magnified heavily- the probability of such a thing happening is typically quite low.

I hope all the people were all right & there were no serious injuries.

The fight was not about Tv serials but inflated ego of two families.

Okay . thanks for the info.

It seems very unreal to me that so many people would fight over these 2nd/3rd rate serials.

By the way, How are these TUrkish serials(plot, quality, acting etc)? Are they worth watching?

The Ottoman Drama about which he is talking about is very popular among women. It is basically the story of intrigues inside ottoman harem.

i heard turkish serials have much more racy/controversial content and more skin... how acceptable is it in bd?

They blurred the cleavage of every woman. No other controversial thing though. I am happy that my mother watches 1 hour of non indian channel everyday for this. Non stop serial channel like Star plus or Star Jolsha are non existent in Bangladesh. Dramas do not cross few dozen episodes as well. My mother want to see Bangladeshi channel but Their is no drama or serial to follow. Kolkata is the only option.

Muhteşem Yüzyıl is the Turkish name of the serial. It is shown in BD under the title of 'Sultan Suleiman'. It is about the ottoman emperor Suleiman and his harem. It has some hot scenes but it is censored.

Turkish culture is more European than Asian or Islamic.

In Turkish movies you will see lots of skin shows and bed scenes which will put Muslim communities in utter shame but their contents are not bad. I like most of the Turkish movies I saw so far.

Ottoman harem is haraam ;)

In Europe they interprete Harem as a place of Unlimited sex or debauchery .

But in muslim empire it usually meant the inside of a House where aristocratic women lived with their maids.

I am talking more about the censorship that that TV series has undergone in many muslim countries.

This show faced a lot of criticism inside Turkey as well. I saw in a documentary where Kemalists weren't happy about the show. According to them there is no point in living the past.. Secular people can be very insecured like the Traditionalists too :feminist:
