Well i think J-10 is a good multi role(fighter Bomber) having a TVC Engine good Radar, we cant get Weaponery with J-10 it is a + point and we can get spare part even in war So i think it is good for PAF:thumbsup:
TVC engine and capability???
I havn't seen the J-10 performing TVC manoevers sofar, if true it would be great.
I have my doubts though if the structure is capable of TVC.
Any link available?

J10 have TVC engine?? can any one provide a link please.
I think we must go for F16 instead of going for F10. F16 have much advance avionics and weapon suite than J10.

Owais got a point,in this age of BVR engagement what matters is the avionics, radar systemd and weapon suites. There wont be anymore dogfights in the China-India -Pakistan hemispehere.

TVC in J-10 is a must if it said to be more maneuverable than Su-30.

What does TVC engine exactly do? I have'nt got much indea about that or perhaps some others in the room too.

Every 1 is giving his own suggestions, whether the J-10 is better or F-16. Again i would say that its very hard to tell what we are getting in J-10. when we will get it the whole curtain will open. At the moment we cant get any kind of conclusion.

i think we should go for the latest f-16s, cause they are combat proven, shot down many russian migs and afghan fighters entering pak airspace... Clear psychological advantage by pak fighters, experience and familiriaty with the f16 have an added advantage also.... chinese fighters should be second option...

i simply think f-16s are a very capable fighter than the j-10 as it has not seen any action.. thats my opinion!

I see that you are very excited for the chinese fighters provided they transfer the tech along with the hardware....

We've gotta wait and see that whats gonna happen in the next couple of years, its going to be very interesting as PAF is approaching to induct a new aircraft into their inventory.
Its hard to say what they are gonna get. There were rumours that PAF is opting for Grippens, then the Mirages and Rafale, then came the F-16 and now the J-10. So far there's not a single reasonable clue about what they are going to induct or after. And with that many options i cant suggest anything, except the JF-17 yet:what: .

No need to wait anylonger.
We're going for a mixture of JF-17, F-16C/D and FC-20 which is the PAF standard version of J-10.

Pakistan to shop for U.S. and Chinese warplanes

SLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan's cabinet has given its air force clearance to open negotiations to buy 36 Jian-10 fighter aircraft from China and 62 F-16s from the United States, defence officials said on Thursday.

The officials confirmed a report in the Business Recorder newspaper that gave a breakdown of the air force's shopping list.

It included 36 modified versions of China's Jian-10 aircraft, along with 26 F-16s of Type A and B, and 18 F-16s of the latest Block 50/52 C and D type models, with an option for 18 more.

The newspaper, quoting an official document, reported that in addition to the aircraft, the government gave approval for purchase of 300 Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles of SD-10 type and 500 BVRs from the United States, 18 targetting pods and 500 joint direct attack munitions.

After the October 8 earthquake, President Pervez Musharraf said he would postpone the purchase of F-16s -- built by Lockheed Martin Corp -- while the government assessed how it would meet the costs of reconstruction and rehabilitation in devastated parts of Pakistani Kashmir and North West Frontier Province.

The international community has since stumped up over $6 billion in aid and soft loans to help Pakistan recover from the disaster.

Though no official figures have been released, the cost of the F-16s alone is expected to be around $2.5 billion, as each plane costs around $40 million.

The costs for the Jian-10 and the BVR missiles are also estimated to run into billions of dollars.

The Jian-10 is described by aviation experts as a fourth generation multi-role fighter aircraft developed by China's Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC), which is also developing JF-17 Thunder aircraft in joint collaboration with Pakistan Aeronautical Complex at Kamra.

Pakistan's Chief of the Air Staff is expected to visit China in May, but any announcement on the Jian-10 deal could wait until a possible visit by President Musharraf, officials said.
