Arjun MK-II Gearing up for final trials

And what kind of bridges India has where 50 Tonn T90 can pass but 60 Tonn Arjuna can't??? I agree every bridge has max load bearing point..

It is known fact that due to low ground pressure/inch Arjuna is better than T90 (In Mobility). Problem comes where Arjuna face a bridge which can not hold more than 50 tonns..

For those scenario BLT are there, and if the water is less, Tank can cross the river as well.. :P

Its non sense about the weight. If rail can carry then increasing the axles reduces the load per axle and bridge mostly will not collapse if the span of the wagon is longer and the member distributing it is beyond columns or other vertical member. during operation neither T90 nor arjun can use any bridge. cos without trailer tanks are like point load and bridge will fail. 70 ton is quite a weight for such short distance. you cannot use flat bed to carry tank during war. only option is BLT.

LIght tanks and T-90 are more suitable for NE terrain

Even if bridges in NE are strong, the narrow roads and rough terrain will not allow to operate Arjun easily

Even T-90s aren't suitable for mountainous terrains and for N-E regions..only IFV/AFV and light tanks(weights around 30-35 tons) are suitable for that kind of region.but I'd prefer something like M1128,AMX-10RC,B1 Centauro or LAV-600 which has weight around 20 tons, and is armed with decent 105mm gun and can work as a tank destroyer.

Bro, Like Pakistani, Indians too are corrupt... There is strong lobby which sabotage any such deals... Read this

The Army wrote in the report that during the "accelerated user-cum-reliability trials" in 2008, the Arjun "was found to have failure of power packs, low accuracy and consistency, failure of hydropneumatic suspension units, shearing of top rollers and chipping of gun barrels".[21] Sabotage was suspected, but the Army rejected that any sabotage happened during the trials.[10][59] A later report published by the Government of India during the induction ceremony of the Arjun tank, confirms the success of the trial. "An independent evaluation of the tank by a reputed tank manufacturer found that the MBT Arjun is an excellent tank with very good mobility and fire power characteristics."[60] DRDO installed an instrument to function as a black box in the Arjun, following attempts to "sabotage" its engine.[61]

Subsequently in September 2008, the Indian Army signed a deal with Russia to import 347 T-90 tanks and license build a further 1000

That lobby earned Massive kick back in T90 deal... Our first lady husband was also involved in Kickback (Boforse). Our First lady is believed to be involved in AW Helo deal kickback...

I don't know, I'm going to look into this. Thanks for the info.

My biggest concern with ARjun is the APFSDS round,i don't think it has enough penetration. The gun is accurate and powerful but the ammo round i'm skeptical.

120mm obviously not as long ranged as 125mm but PA and PLA have yet to come up with a tank having sufficient armor for us! :sniper:

Not talking about range,i mean length of the sabot penetrator,i know PA pla don't particularly have super ammo. But from what i heard arjun APFSDS ammo round itself has less penetration than t-90.But becuase the gun is so good,it offsets that to a degree. We need a new round with a longer rod and tungsten or DU core.A new round is in development ,don't know specifications.

DU is used definitely but is illegal so mums the word. :police:

India imports ammo from russia... also DU rounds arent nukes... the countries tht use them display em at exhibitions... while india doesnt make them... unless you can post a pic of indian made du round? as for armour.. do check out the new AK-I whose composite armour was also exported to Turkey for the development of Altay mbt.... here is probably the new long rod Naiza DU round by POF with more penetration power than the previous one:

While AK-II is under development is its turret is said to be similiar to this:

We have yet to see a pic of AK-II though.

I understand Pakistani Inferiority complex regarding Indian technological progress and military might so here friend

http://http://ofbindia.gov.in/products/data/ammunition/lc/37.htm

It is thought that between 17 and 20 countries have weapons incorporating depleted uranium in their arsenals. They include the U.S., the UK, France, Russia, China, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Pakistan, Thailand, Iraq and Taiwan.

Nice source... ... even this "thought" is reported by wikipedia.. very nice sources by the way... but nothing solid... here is your country importing "tank" ammo from russia:

http://www.google.com.pk/url?sa=t&r...w6ypLTTH16QQga5WBrWm66w&bvm=bv.47008514,d.aWM

So are we to believe this "thought" tht india uses du rounds.. but imports rounds from russia?

As for inferiority complex.. dude i wont even comment on your stupidity... and i get this error while opening those pages:

Oops! Google Chrome could not find http

The site shows DRDO products. T90 FSAPDS rounds maybe a few but you guys import tanks from china , what about it ? Pakistan DU round as per POF site sucks at penetration. Loser Al Khalid tank, even t72mk2 can kill it.

BTW I fixed the link so your remaining ego is on fire :nana:

Yes 1 billion $ worth "few T-90 FSAPDS rounds" bravo... and we dont import mbts from China... if you had a little more IQ you would have understood... as for POF site.. its not upgraded or updated... you wouldnt find the new G-3s or AK versions or even the new DU round on it either.. as for AK yeah man.. obsolete t-72 powered by your brain farts can kill it.

So likewise using pakistani logic even though wiki says it and the manufacturer website shows no mention your new g3 (anyways obsolete) does'nt exist.

Al Khalid (MBT 2000) wants to say Hi from Junk Yard

Is this a contest? I validated my point that manufacturers may produce products but not notify general public by upgrading their website. So if it is not advertised by your logic it doesn't exist even when strong evidence and manufacturer's website shows similar products of note? Then I can also assume nazia doesn't exist and PA rounds do a pindly penetration at 2,000M 460mm, against RHA target at Zero Obliquity, conforming to DEF-STAN 95-13/2 as per POF.

BTW AK 1 looks like a t 72 MK1

Name of the game is ERA not stupid side skirts that fall off in mud and rough handling like pic shows.
