Anatomy of my PDF addiction

I dont know why im addicted to PDF.

In the past 12 days(my college holidays) i have spent an average of 12 hours per day on pdf,i got myself a godfather game dvd few days ago but i havent started playing it( though i'm a gaming freak),i have beem on pdf all the time,i like it,i love it and...umm i love it more than....umm anything

My PDF Addiction has many reasons (In spite of being suspended 2 times for long 1 month without any reason/intimation) :-

1) I tried to pass SSB/AFSB (entrance exam/Interview for Army/Air Force) 5 times but failed (Damn! never know what they want) hence my quench of thirst needs to be damp down with updates of army and weapons.

2) I always love to hear both parties for any discussion and hence never liked BRF as it is pretty one sided without fun. While I get the same here.

3) I always believe that history is always one sided theories liked by a group of people. Then what is "Absolute"? I try to judge the same by analyzing the post provided by different people.

4) I am a socialist hence knowing many people with different attitude is always great.

i recall a time when i was in 7th grade i got a tv game(mario ,supercountra) bought by dad ,i started playing it in the morning at10AM & kept playing till 1AM the next morning my eyes were paining a lot but i was still not satisfied .still i am a gaming freak

So I'm not a diplomat, military analyst or even a serving/retired fauji.

So why the heck do I keep clicking on the PDF tab and checking out 'Today's posts' like my life depended on it? I spend hours on this site every day!! Here's where I try to psychoanalyze myself.

1. I'm into things that go boom or make other things go boom in turn (Military aircraft, warships, tanks, all kinds of guns)-not that I'm the violent type. Has something to do with the fact that my childhood was mostly spent in remote leech-infested or sandstorm-lashed air bases listening to the earth-shattering roar of jet engines. Lots of info on all that BadaBoom stuff.

2. I love being this anonymous 'roach' guy on a defense forum who gets to comment on all kinds of topics, and I really like it when others respond to something I've said or posted. It's awesome when a bunch of people thank me for a post (SUCH an ego boost), but the best is when a non-Indian member thanks me. I feel like I achieved something. I like changing my avatars, I made the current avatar myself on photoshop and it represents my philosophy in life, I get kicks because I get the feeling it is seen as a scheming, conspiratorial avatar- Webby gave me 0/10 for it that was awesome.

3. I'm an incurable optimist, and I really want to understand. Understand my country, understand Pakistan and Pakistanis, China and Chinese, Bangladesh and Bangladeshis, Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans...among others. Here, I am starting to understand what makes us all tick- politically speaking. I truly believe that one day South Asia will be an entity without borders and the fighting will be reduced to making jokes at each other's expense. F**k you all that want otherwise.

4. And, my wife is ok with me stalking PDF, no chance of hooking up here with random hot chicas

So feel free to post your own story of why you hang out on PDF, or not.

many more such things have been happening since i joined the forum when it was born.

lolzz these are not reasons for addictions but just few things happened here

I am not addicted to here, cuz i do visit other forums as well including the indian ones, but i am certainly addicted to the internet. i have been caught by my manager a few times, and when i am at home i spend at least 1-2 hours on the internet.

I was addicted to PDF since 2006 , used to spend about an hour or so every single day..browsing Su 30 MKI , Tejas , Nuclear Subs etc ...ever since I found this site to be way more informative and presenting different shades of opinion than Wikipedia....

Later on used to spend hours reading on social and strategic affairs ,and debates between the early members. Read a lot of heated arguments, and saw a lot of members getting banned like Adux , Vsdoc even Desiman...... ( good training for me )

All this in my school days and then I dunno why, but one fine day after years of simply surfing....

decided to sign up and start debates with the members .And from meticulously spending an hour on the forum everyday ....I'm spending close to 4-5 hours regularly, in composing replies

The forum's way too addictive ....simply to engage in intense debates with members of Pakistani and Chinese nationalities over strategic affairs ......getting to understand their points of view ,their perspectives ,debating and countering their points with reason and logic is real exhilarating Most enjoyable is the knowledge that people...other forum members & lurkers are following your arguments , and getting thanked comes as a huge morale-booster on a dreary day....
Debating was always one of my great loves back in high school and is also in college...


and of course till date have been giving trolls a wide berth ...which is why I've managed to avoid a ban till date and hopefully will continue thus in the future....

PDF is very addicting.PDF is very nice site.I found this website when i was searching something about PAF Found Muradk posts and his posts were so good that i ended up spending several hours reading 4k+ posts.Last i asked Webby to ban my account for few months because i could not prepare for exams at all.So thankfully webby banned me and i got good marks.
