Islamabad, July 19: On the occasion of “Accession to Pakistan Day,” an extraordinary session was convened at the Hurriyat Conference (M) office in Islamabad on Thursday, which was addressed by Prof. Ashraf Saraf, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi and others.
Terming the “liberation struggle” as the “movement for accomplishment of Pakistan,” the speakers reiterated their resolve to take the movement to its logical end for which the people of Jammu and Kashmiri have rendered invaluable sacrifices.
Expressing serious concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Kashmir, the Hurriyat leaders urged India to stop “bloodbath of innocent Kashmiris” and create a congenial atmosphere for talks to get the dispute resolved amicably.
They said that India should shun its obduracy and dillydally policy on Kashmir and reciprocate positively to four-point formula of Pakistan President, General Pervez Musharraf to resolve dispute peacefully in line with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
At the end of session the participants prayed for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity and the freedom of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, “Accession to Pakistan Day” was observed in Pakistan administered Kashmir and other parts of the world with traditional zeal and fervour, renewing the pledge to strive for the liberation of homeland despite all odds.
The day is being observed annually in commemoration of historical resolution adopted by All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference at Srinagar on July 19, 1947, demanding the state’s accession to Pakistan.
