What's new

All cinema halls in Bangladesh closed in protest to allow Hindi / Indian films

. .
Bollywood generates Good revenue for cinema owners. Bollywood is very popular in Bangladesh I heard from bangladesh friends .

Popular but main problem is Hindi language which is similar to 'evil' Urdu language. Hindi becomes victim for the fault of Urdu-Bangla language politics. Intellectuals will not tolerate Hindi language because of the deep hatred for Urdu language. It will become issue of Liberation spirit if Urdu sounding Hindi movies run in cinemas.

It doesn't matter as long as you get entertainment & remain happy.

. . .
Bollywood itself is licking its wounds from an onslaught from south & English films which are making so much money & capturing its market. Their confidence shattered when bahubali made +1000 Cr & now they are trying to increase their audience capacity in emerging markets like BD , Pakistan ( by hiring their actors ) , ME etc so that they can produce high budget films to match hollywood guys. They lack content & fresh talent , there is too much monopoly & technology hasn't yet disrupted their style of functioning.

.
Why your mainstream cinema suffers so much?
Because targeted audience of mainstream cinema are mostly rustic peoples.
On the other hand viewers of natoks are mostly middle class whom call themselves more cultured than rustic peoples.

However many Bangla natoks are suffering too now and losing quality too. Still they are way better than movies.
I don't even want to compare present days natoks with old days superior quality natoks.

After all what present days natok can come even near to ayomoyo (অয়োময়ো) , kothao keu nei , aj rob bar or bohubrihi bla bla bla... Or such types of natoks? No one can make such better stuffs now, neither present days actors or actresses can compete with olds.

Bollywood is making a lot of good movies these days. Look for the ones on social issues, and the ones with off beat actors.
The mainstream stuff is largely crap, and a rehash of other mainstream movies.

Haasil was good.
Ek Hasina Thi was Saif Ali Khan's second game changer after Dil Chahta Hai.
Sehar was good, particularly Arshad Warsi's role.
Black Friday was good.
Firaaq was good.

The list does not include 'Rocket Singh : Salesman of the year' and 'Gulaal'.

Baahuabli is nonsense.

Talking about the movie, the decision will be taken to import Hindi cinema in the country, said the information minister. Hasan Mahmud He told this at the discussion meeting held at the FDC auditorium in the capital on Friday noon on National Film Day. The minister also urged all to come forward, not only for the sake of the government but also for the development of the film industry. Two day long programs have been taken for the day.

Bangladesh Film Development Corporation-BFDC has taken various programs to mark the National Film Day. In addition to the film's illustration, the old pictures are provocative.

You can't fight globalisation. It's futile in this age of mobile phones, internet and 24 hour news to try and keep a culture isolated/protected.

Hollywood and Bollywood are in every sphere of society already why make pretences by banning it in the cinema only?

If we want our culture to survive we have to make it effective for this day and age. Make it better than Indian or Western culture and you will find they will learn from us.

Bangla culture offers deep values, dignity, respect, love, brotherhood and sentiment. There is a strong streak of intellectualism too. As long as we retain those basic foundations, I feel the subject matter could be Bollywood or Hollywood, we will digest it in our Bangladeshi way.

that is true .

so the reason for not allowing indian movies is because the hate they have for Pakistan and Urdu again lols:o:

no not like that .
