All cinema halls in Bangladesh closed in protest to allow Hindi / Indian films

.
Pakistan seems to be going in the opposite direction. Recently, they completely banned Bollywood. However, it is a well-known fact that Pakistani cinemas cannot make enough revenue to stay in business on Pakistani and Hollywood films alone.

Bangladesh seems to be managing a pretty strong film industry, especially since it is surrounded by a film industry giant(India). That is pretty impressive.

Pakistan's decision was a retalition against Indian blacklisting Pakistani singers and actors. So it wasn't a step backwards, it was a relatintion.

I know that. That does not mean it will not hurt your cinemas. Unless your gov subsidizes private cinemas, cinema owners will suffer losses.

so the reason for not allowing indian movies is because the hate they have for Pakistan and Urdu again lols:o:

Yes. Urdu is hated by Bengali intellectuals as a language because of 1952 language issue. They have issues with Hindi because it 'sounds' similar to Urdu language.

Hindi films are popular. Well understood since ages. We used to hire VHS and then VCD in our childhood to watch Hindi films. It was a family gathering. So many nice memories while watching Hindi films. I used to visit my aunt's house and watched Hindi films in VHS when I was a kid. almost 99% city dwellers have same memories.

But Indian films even Bengali was banned to protect Bangladeshi Bengali films. Hindi films were mainly banned for protecting culture as Hindi bollywood culture is very addictive to youngsters. So it might destroy cultural value to youth. This was the main reason.

South Asians and their petty issues, yet some think they will be super power in 2030 yet other think they will an Asian tiger and the third one thinks they will be 15th major economy in 25 years. nations with higher aim don't get involved in petty issues...we all three will stay where we are for last 70 years.

There is a tradition of films from Indian Bengal state of being experimental. Was there no influence of them on BD films ??

@BDforever had once posted link of a nice BD film in the Whatever thread. It was about three young men who set out to speak to the lover of one of them and they having various adventures along the way. I forgot the name.
