AJK capital sees first march for occupied Kashmir's independence

I hope people of GB are given their fair share opportunity to benefit from development projects. They have long wished to be brought into mainstream and treated equally, their patriotism cannot be shouldn't be questioned. Their people have served armed forces of Pakistan and laid down their lives in the line of their duty.

Right now they want an identity more than development. They want to be associated with Pakistan but we keep pushing them away.

It would be unfortunate if sentiments of those people are not respected. The Iranians exploited the situation and gained a bit of a foot hole after the revolution.

If you don't respect people who have been loyal to you, than they will eventually look towards other religious or national identities who are waiting with open arms and bigger pockets.

Pakistan should rapidly integrate Kashmir as next province. This is the opening.

That is why I said Pakistani State is in slumber as usual. And I hate not having a proactive response from our state.

What up with these guys?

Every one cannot hide their "greed" to get more land under their governance, Gilgit/Baltistanis insult these AJK people that they don't want to have anything to do with them but yet some AJK politicians are always coming up with this "wet dream" of combining AJK and Gilgit/Baltistan and making AJK government rule not just AJK but also Gilgit/Baltistan.

Well this proves people have freewill even if they are a minority within their own group.

As for Gilgit Baltistan people they were demanding for a long time to have own identity as they are ethnically not Kashmiris. That is why for longthey used to identify themselves as people of Northern Areas.

This is also wrong, Gilgit Baltistanis are NOT a monolithic set of people, there are numerous cultures and ethnicites living in Gilgit Baltistan. One of them is surely related to Kashmiri of IOK and that is Sheena people, and among Sheena the Sheena of Astor are pretty close to Kashmiris in terms of culture, the Sheenas of Gilgit/Chilas/Ghizer are however distinct and more closely related to Chitralis.

Everyone has a right to have their say.

We have the right to ignore them.

Not all Shina have "same culture", the Shina of Astore, Minimarg, Kamri, Gurez speak Shina but their dress and culture is more similar to Kashmiris of IOK. The Shina of Gilgit/Diamir/Ghizer are a norther folk closer to people of Hunza and Chitral in terms of their dress and culture.

This is Shina song from Gurez Area of IOK, all the comments below the vide are from Astore Pakistan who are saying that they speak exactly this same dialect of Shina in Astore which is differnt from Gilgit.

Also one of the major caste/family name among Shina of Gurez and to a lower extent even in Astore is "Lone" which is also a major caste/family name among Kashmiris of IOK too.

Wow, My bloodline goes back to Shina Ethnicity and I was born and raised in Punjab!

There in confusion about "Lone" caste in Kashmir, some think they were originally "shina" speaking that lived near the northern fringe of Kashmir valley and many of them gradually adopted Kashmiri language. But some think that "Lone" were originally Kashmiri martial tribe that were stationed by ancient kings of Kashmir valley to the north adjoining Shina/dardistan areas to protect Kashmir valley's northern borders from ancient Dards and some of the "Lones" got assimilated among the local Shinas there and hence currently Lones either speak Kashmiri or Shina depending on their geographical origin.

GB ppl are more related to ppl of Ladakh

NO, even people of Gilgit have technically speaking no close "relation" to people of Baltistan (Skardu). People of Gilgit are more similar to the people of Chitral despite Chitral being in KPK. Baltistan (Skardu) part of "Gilgit Baltistan" is related to the some extent to Kargil area of Ladakh but not to the "Leh" area of Ladakh. These areas are very complex in terms of languages, cultures and ethnicities.

Not sure what the state can do about these people in AJK. Our commitment is that Kashmiris have a right to self-determination.

Kashmiris should also respect the rights of GB people who don't want themselves associated with Kashmiris.

Sure Kashmiris in IoK may have that option because if they gain freedom then it will be mostly because of their own struggle. Pakistan cannot liberate them. But AJK ones dont have that luxury.

This is what everyone in establishment think apart from different position publicly. Giving away AJK mean all of north punjab/Islamabad/hazara suddenly is unprotected.

Like Lahore which is vulnerable with no natural barriers.

That right of self-determination would be exercised obviously after all matters with India are settled whether through dialogue or war.

That means no Indian Army presence across the present LOC.

Khurshid Kasuri's solution comes to mind which obviously had the backing of establishment back then.
