Afghanistan fire 25 mortar shells in Pakistan: Officials.
By SADAF SHINWARI - January 5 2013, 10:17 am

According to Pakistani officials at least 25 mortar shells were fired from the Afghan soil which landed in the border area of Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan Agency on Friday.
The sources confirmed the shelling by unidentified people believed to be Afghan security personnel, did not incur any casualties to local residents.
The shelling according to the sources continued for four hours. The mortar shells were fired from Tarkhobi area in Afghanistan’s Khost province.
Cross-border shelling has heightened tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan as the two countries accuse each other of firing.
The Afghan government has repeatedly asked its Pakistani counterpart to stop cross-border shelling, the Pakistani officials however denies any involvement and blames Afghanistan for violating border sovereignty.
Local authorities in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan at least 4 Afghan civilians were killed or injured following missile attack from Pakistan last week.
The officials added at least 12 missiles were fired in Sarkano district, leaving an Afghan woman dead and 3 children injured.
Local officials are saying at least 60 people have been killed or injured following missiles attacks by Pakistan military during the past 9 months.

they are firing, killing our jawans and laughing and our government is doing nothing,

No need to nuke, just close the trade route/border for 3-4 days and they will be eating ****

Not to worry friends these afghans only do such things when they are sure that pak army is not operational in that area otherwise they don't have guts to do such things in the presence of pak fauj

here we go again, Pakistan will fire shells for a week, government of kabul leaded by karzai would threaten to go to big daddy and complain and so on..

If this is true then Pakistan Army has made itself a joke for the world to laugh.

Guess what, they will say we did not expect mortars to be fired from the western border just like they said "we did not expect gunship helis to be trespassing the western border and killing our soldiers (Salala event).

It's not the first time that shells have landed across the border for either side and it probably wont be the last. Mortars and Artillery Shells are not GPS guided that they will always land bang on target and can be aborted if they miss. When a mortar or artillery shell is fired, from the moment that it leaves the tube, it's basically following it's own course. It's no biggy and I don't expect the Afghans to be very proficient with the use of their weapons, they do not have the experience yet. Otherwise, a good artillery corp, such as Our's or the Indian's (Yes, they have a good artillery corp), could knit a sweater with their 155mm.

Instead of bellyaching, why doesn't the Pak Army retaliate by shelling those mortar positions by counter mortar fire? What's stopping them? They shout from the rooftops when the drones attack. They shout from the rooftops when the Afghans fire mortars. They do the same when troops are captured by the Taliban and slaughtered.

How about some counter action, guys? :P
