Aamir Khan meets Turkish President Erdogan's wife, Emine, in Istanbul. Sanghis get Heart-burn

"Everyone has been talking about Aamir Khan’s cute looking nephew Imran Khan and his much anticipated silver screen debut ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’. But there are a few things that not everyone knows… Nah, we are not talking about his girlfriend of 6 years, Avantika Malik, this has more to do about his surname ‘Khan’.

The debutante actor, in a candid interview to a news daily revealed that his original surname is ‘Pal’ and not ‘Khan’. That’s because his fathers’ name is Anil Pal who is a Bengali and works overseas with ‘Yahoo’, but the young lad likes to call himself ‘Imran Khan’ because his mother ‘Nuzhat Khan’ and father had parted ways long back when the actor was pretty young.

And, he being closer to his mum, it’s his way of saying ‘thank you’ we guess because she has been a single parent to him. Incidentally, she is now married to actor ‘Raj Zutshi’, who is a Kashmiri. So that makes Imran a half Muslim, half Bengali and a bit of Kashmiri too."

@Shantanu_Left how did you know ?

in bollywood all religions are mixed , secular or athiest people .

It reflects overall outlook of the masses.

Today there are fewer 'secular' 'Liberal' Indians than there used to be 10 years ago, now being liberal and secular is an insult, those words have been turned into insults.

Because how else on Earth, could being secular be equated to be anti national.

indian masses are mostly driven by anti pakistan feeling .

Congress was, is and will still be anti pakistan, that is not the question.

There has undoubtedly been a shift in Indian society, RSS goons went from being the pariah to the saviour of the state.

And highly educated intellectuals who believe in values of secularism and liberalism have fallen from grace for no fault of their own.

Modi has masterfully polarised the Indian society.

This will only hurt India in the end, there is no room for exclusionist politics in the 21st century.

LOL, India has diplomatic and trade relations with Turkey right now. It's still a NATO country. So if you want to take offense to Aamir Khan's visit, first tell Narendra Modi to suspend all ties. Otherwise shut up.

Agreed. Starting with suspension of political and military ties with USA.

Yes, quite a few times the Congress tried to outdo BJP in anti-Pakistan statements to be seen as more patriotic. Never mind that the country internally needs a social, economic and political revolution.

Four intellectuals have been assassinated by Hindutva thugs since 2013.

Amir KHan is the only practicing Muslim among the Khans. All his wives accepted Islam, unlike Gauri (SRK's wife) or Salman's girlfriends.

But he stays silent most of the time. Economic compulsions perhaps. THe price of being a muslim in India.

Ahem ....“Cough cough”

The whole world needs a revolution.

The last Indian movie I watched was Three Idiots starring Aamir, absolutely loved that movie.

I liked Ghulam and also Ghajini especially the scene where he has the villain trapped on the ground but does not have a weapon at hand to kill him. I for some reason liked the two or three seconds of the look of desperation on Aamir's face.

Stark contrast to the movies Bollywood makes now, which revolve around the female actress shaking her arse and all around mujraing, pornos really.

Especially made for BIMARU types, navel loving degenerates and all.

I too love navels. South Indian and Bhojpuri. Am I a degenerate ? :D :enjoy:

Yes, I absolutely loved Ghajni, great story and good songs, a good remake of the American movie Momento.

Good movie overall, not much in way of Mujra'ing and tummy showing.

@Shantanu_Left Bhai, ise bhi set kardo. :partay:

Degenerate ? Noooo.

You're our kind of degenerate, the good kind.

That is a massive hit everywhere. China,Pak,Mid East, Hell i have even heard people from Turkmenistan And Tajikistan heap praise over it.
Bollywood is already a very big thing in Turkey, and Turkish shows had started making inroads into India a long way back.

About the film 1951 film Awaara of Raj Kapoor and Nargis :
Remakes

Due to the film's remarkable success with Turkish audiences, Awaara was remade in Turkey a total of eight times. The first and most prominent Turkish film remake was Avare (1964) starring actor Sadri Alışık and actress Ajda Pekkan.

There was also an Iranian film remake, called The Wheel of the Universe (1967). However, this version may have been a remake of the Turkish remake Avare, rather than a direct remake of the original Awaara

in USSR and PRC :
Soviet Union

In the Soviet Union, Awaara was released in 1954, debuting at Indian film festivals in Moscow and Leningrad which drew about 1.5 million viewers in four days. By the end of the year, it drew an audience of about 64 million viewers in its initial run, the highest for any film in the Soviet Union at the time, until its record was surpassed by Amphibian Manin 1962. At the Soviet box office, Awaara remained the most-viewed Indian film, the third biggest foreign hit of all time, and one of the top 20 biggest hits of all time.

In terms of gross revenue, Awaara earned 29 million руб ($7.25 million,[n 2]₹34.5 million)[n 1] in its initial run, surpassing Aan to become the highest-grossing Indian film overseas at the time. Awaara's 29 million руб was eventually surpassed by Disco Dancer (1982), which grossed 60 million руб in the Soviet Union. Including re-runs, which were running for 10–12 years, Awaara's footfalls in the Soviet Union amounted to about 100 million box office admissions, which remains among the highest for an Indian film in an overseas market.

China

The film was also a success in China, where it first released in 1955. In its opening week, the film sold 4 million tickets, including 1.43 million admissions earning a distribution rental income of about CN¥ 100,000 in Beijing alone. Its 4 million opening-week ticket sales were equivalent to estimated opening-week rentals of approximately CN¥280,000 ($114,000). Prior to its 1978 re-release, the film's initial run had sold a total of 40 million tickets in China.

The film's 1978 re-release was a greater commercial success in China. Following its re-release, the film went on to sell a total of more than 100 million tickets, and was the second highest-grossing Indian film in China behind only Nasir Hussain's Caravan (1971).

Legacy

The song "Awaara Hoon" and actor Raj Kapoor were widely known across China and the Soviet Union. The film's success in both the Soviet Union and China has been attributed to the socialist themes expressed in the film.

The film Awaara and the song "Awaara Hoon" are believed to have been among Chairman Mao's favourite films and songs, respectively. Awaara was referenced in the 2000 Chinese film Platform.
