The one thing this General does not take into consider is India's fragile internal situation. Internally India is far weaker than any of her neighbors. Before doing anything internal order should be restored . India is beyond the point of no return. Modi XI has made sure of that.

Indian army due to mass focus on CT ops has become more of a over glorified police force than a offensive capable army. This IA is not the IA that stormed into East Pakistan in 1971( which by the way were piggy backed by the Mukti bahini). This is why Pakistan was and still today is successful in neutralizing the Indian threat. Attaining Nuclear weapons was icing on the cake for Pakistan.

If India wants to nullify Chinese threat they have to give all CT OPS to the paramilitary. IA should only be focused on war. PLA is less focused on CT ops and more focused on offensives. So they already have leg up over the IA. Refocusing IA will take at least 10 years or more. will the Chinese give IA that breathing time ?

There is a solution to the problem, India can definitely become a major power.

What they need to do,

1) Get out of US camp
2) Resolve border issues with all neighbours peacefully
3) Solve Kashmir issue with Pakistan
4) Good working, diplomatic and economical relation with China and transfer technology
5) Avoid communism and bring Muslims into main stream



Just do these things and India would be a major power.
