What's new

1st Test: Australia v Pakistan at Lord's, Jul 13-17, 2010

The only silver lining is Salman Butt. He is the only one who showed any skill or resolve from the Pakistani batsmen. Umar Akmal is talented but too flashy and the rest of the middle order, especially Afridi is too unreliable.

Let's hope the PCB doesn't do the usual like removing Afridi for "non-performance" and make Salman Butt the interim captain. The players are what they are, but it is the PCB's fault for the current mess. Their criticism of captains is made public, the 'inquisitions' after any loss are heavy-handed, they allow players to lose their way and then discipline them when they go against the establishment.

Thats what Pakistan is, we are popular for making ordinary bowler as deadly bowler in the eyes of the world

well big question mark is with afridi he should not be in the test team in first place because he cant bowl he cant bat it measn we play with 10 players other probleum with batsman i dont know what the hell probleum they have with this north he is just a mediukar bowler PCB should be blamed for the loss when younis khan was available why they did not picked him why they went with 2 youngsters you need to gland old and new together as we playing with 8 players afirdi,Umer amin and azhar ali did nothing only in second inning azhar ali played welll dont know when do we win test match against australia we always get near to kick their *** but than we parish ourselves younis khan should be given priority over umer amin this is pakistan home series pakistan can bring younis khan in seconds if they want but im sure pcb wont they only care about their fighting not pakistan

I think Afridi is a gamble and when it works, it works big-time. Currently, barring Yousuf and Younis Khan, there are no other quality batsmen for which you need to remove Afridi. And if you bring back Younis, please do not remove him just for the sake of bringing in youth. First nurture the grass-root level cricket before blooding any more talent.

This time also afridi was aiming for a SIX....what the hell:hitwall:

Well, we are hearing news from the ground (not fully confirmed at the moment) that Shahid Afridi has just told Jim Maxwell on radio that the Headingley Test will be his last. We'll bring you more news as we get it. First we have the presentation so we might hear something from this..

Shahid Afridi to retire from Tests

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said he will retire from Test cricket following the second Test against Australia at Headingley starting on Wednesday. He has not yet informed the PCB of his decision.

"We'll make some decision when he comes and tells us but as of now we have not been informed," PCB chairman Ijaz Butt told Cricinfo.

Afridi made his surprising announcement to BBC Radio after leading Pakistan in a 150-run defeat in the first Test at Lord's. He said he no longer had the temperament for the five-day game after what was his first Test in four years.

Afridi is a worth less piece of crap because he shouldn't have accepted the Test team's captaincy in the first place and he should have left this to Younus Khan.

No wonder Pakistan is always in trouble because we are so selfish.

Kamran Akmal, Misbah, Afridi, Yousuf, Rana and Afridi - All of these retards should be penalized for hurting Pakistan's interests!

Younus Khan is the ideal captain! Lets bring him back today!!

Sorry to say but Younis Khan was nothing short of a drama queen and was out of form for more than a year. He was always unable to make his mind. So no need to bring him back. The moment you will bring him back, he will resign again after one series.
What has really annoyed me that Afridi is also following his footsteps. He needs to take the challenge. His retirement will not help. We will lose anyway.:frown:
Giving captaincy to Salman Butt will be a blunder at this point as it will pressurize him and he will not be able to perform.:hitwall:

really disappointing performance from pakistan.... as usual bowling was amazing (mohammad aamer and danish kaneria performed greatly) but again batting was PATHETIC apart from butt..... afridi is being a wuss now saying he wanna quit is he crazy?? he is one of Pak's best players i dont think he can take the pressure of being captain yet thats why he's quitting.... nonsense !! Pakistani cricket is ALWAYS in chaos

I was expecting more pakistani fans to turn up to Lords perhaps the weather put them off.

well i think younis khan is best choice for this thing. welll afidi has made a blunder for a test captaincy he dont even cement his place in test squad how can he be captain better send younis khan now this is home series for pakistan we can send him now.
