14 women return after jail terms in India

Benapole, May 4 (bdnews24.com) – Fourteen Bangladeshi women, who went to India in search of jobs and were detained by the Indian police, have returned home after languishing about two years in a jail in the neighbouring country's Maharashtra state.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed them over to the policemen at Benapole check-post in Jessore district on Friday morning.

The returnees are 'Lima' (22), 'Sweaty' (20), 'Shefali' (24) and Shefali's two-year-old child Abdullah of Jessore district; 'Fazila' (22), 'Baby' (19), 'Ruma' (23) and 'China' (25) of Narail; 'Aklima' (21) of Gazipur; 'Shefali' (25) of Jhenaidah; 'Tania' (23) of Satkhira; Shamsunnahar (26) of Barisal; 'Dularani' (22) of Patuakhali and 'Shakila' (21) of Madaripur districts.

Tania told bdnews24.com that they went to India two years back with the help of touts hoping to get better jobs and were arrested by the Maharashtra police.

They all were sent to a Pune jail through the court.

Benapole check-post immigration officer-in-charge Quamruzzaman told bdnews24.com that an Indian NGO 'Rescue Foundation' helped the 14 women get release from the Pune jail and kept them under its supervision.

Their return was facilitated following correspondences between the two countries with the initiatives of 'Rescue Foundation' and Jessore-based NGO 'Rights'.

what do you mean no justice? They entered India illegally, and tried to gain employment here without authorization and themselves brought on the sentence onto themselves. This is real justice.

They should've actually been stopped by the BSF by any means while crossing the border illegally. We need to divert more resources to BSF, to help them better patrol the porous border.

What is the meaning of posting this thread??? We all know who ever goes to India are either brain washed by their relatives or become victim of tout those who lure them to get better job in return of heavy money or become victim of human trafficking.

People need to understand that the country which ask its poor to eat rats instead of rice, where farmers commit suicide for not paying loan, a country where 60% people has no sanitation facility is never a good destination for better fortune.

what you do with women criminals inside Pakistan? are they let free just because they are woman?

There are laws in each country and if you dont follow the laws, whether you are man or woman you will be punished as per law.

And they had broken the law by illegally entering the country without visa document, so were put in jail.

And funny thing is they were in Maharastra which is not even bordering Bangladesh.

If you do not want to get punished, apply for visa get immigrant visa and come to India,

or second way Join Indian Union of states.

BSF is actively involved in all smuggling and human trafficking. The let all sort of these activity in exchange of money. Anyone can say it closing their eyes if they see the amount of smuggling happen at the border which now account 3-5 billion usd. On top of it cows does not have wing that more then 15 million cows comes to Bangladesh jumping the fence.

They only kill some random people where they do not get the bribe money.

They were cheated by Touts/dalals... They normally offer job to poor women/farmers and demand one time money ( 1 lakh minimum) and then after crossing border leaves them alone! Illiterate people don't know that there is no job in India!

Bangladesh should start an awareness campaign atleast by the NGO that where uncountable number of poors are suffering in dirt poor India how they will be provided with good job. This is really sad that a big number of poor people and girl have been cheated by the Indian dalals and their agents. BSF is the main criminal mastermind here and it is letting everyone to do it in exchange of bribe.

There are organized crime rings that regularly traffic groups of poor people across the border with false promises. I've seen this in several video clips from BBC and Al Jazeera.
