LOL...you and your countrymen are shouting the Taiwanese are selfish and coward (e.i. outer Mongolia and Senkakus). You can forget their whatever claim. They can´t do anything in politics.

As a matter of fact, most Taiwanese are proud of their country Taiwan and want to go alone.

Taiwanese han people is geneticlly different from mainland han people. It's a mix of minnan people and native malays.A slave race,no way to be pure,it's ridiculous.

Ma christens two ships to patrol Diaoyutai Islands

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- President Ma Ying-jeou yesterday christened two Coast Guard cutters that will patrol the waters over the disputed Diaoyutai Islands.Hsin Bei (新北艦) and Hsun Hu No. 8 (巡護8號) will be based in Keelung Harbor (基隆港) and deployed to waters peripheral to the Diaoyutais, an island chain at the center of a regional territorial dispute.

The Coast Guard Administration (海岸巡防署) chose Cijin District (旗津) of Southern Taiwan for the ship's christening ceremony, in the interest of minimizing friction with Japan, Taiwan's neighbor to the northeast, according to military authorities.

Onboard the Hsin Bei, Ma reiterated the government's determination to enforce Taiwan's claim over the Diaoyutai Islands.

“We will not concede one step,” said Ma during opening remarks at the launch ceremony.

But Ma renewed his call for the Coast Guard to refrain from aggression in accordance with his East China Sea Peace Initiative.

Taiwan “won't evade, provoke or concede” to other claimants in the defense of Diaoyutais sovereignty and protection of fishing rights, Ma told the crew.

The ship launch comes at a time of continued maritime conflict over the Diaoyutais, an island chain controlled by Japan but claimed also by Taiwan and mainland China.

Ma has adopted a relatively low-key approach to defense, but has also stepped up the visibility of Coast Guard patrols in the surrounding waters. Last September, Taiwan and Japanese clippers exchanged water cannon fire near the disputed waters.

The new patrol ships, Hsin Bei and Hsun Hu No. 8, are part of a NT$24 billion project to add 37 vessels to the Coast Guard by 2018.

The 2,000-ton Hsin Bei is the Coast Guard Administration's first clipper fitted with 40-mm cannons and machine guns. It will join a fleet of smaller ships to patrol Taiwan's side of the temporary law enforcement line and defend the operations of Taiwanese fishermen.

After the commissioning ceremony, Ma inspected a Coast Guard fleet drill that featured the ships on their maiden run.

Earlier this month local media reported that the Coast Guard also invited Premier Jiang Yi-huah (江宜樺) and New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu (朱立倫), but Ma presided at the ceremony without either.

At the end Taiwan will be instrumental to take back the Diaoyu Islands for Chinese people.

LOL, we'd be happy if Taiwanese wouldn't support Japanese claim in the end.

Neither, the culture of China change from dynasty to dynasty. By Tang dynasty, its culture was already different from ancient China.

Both Taiwan and China are equally Chinese. Don't make the mistake of regarding one as more Chinese than the other because China is compose of mainland, Taiwan, HK and Macau.

Exactly, this is a divide and conquer trap and a troll thread. Rather you are Taiwanese, Chinese, Hongkongese are from Macau we are all "Chinese". Because of the turmoil that hit China in the past the people in these four parts has been seperated for a long time and each has developed their own unique cultural, political and social distinctions. The question as to who is more Chinese is moot. Because culture is always in the making and is never made. The sense of identity is very personal and if you know some one that feels he is this or that it does not represent a whole community or let alone a whole people.

Yap, and too many people have already fall into this trap. The term "Americans" is comprise of people of many background and nationalities. But all Americans, either being here for generations or new immigrants, mostly support each others as Americans despite the huge ethnic and cultural differences. For China to move forward and be more united, the Chinese people of mainland, Taiwan, HK and Macau must do their best to understand and accept each other.

Chinese culture =/= stuck in the past

Traditional script is fine and all, but it has several a big disadvantage, it is too complicate and bad for increasing the overall literacy rate of the country. The simplification of Chinese scripts have taken place throughout the history. In fact, when KMT was in mainland, it tried to push for simplified Chinese as well, but failed at it.
As for ancestral worshipping and Confucian ideals, the mainland China is more about respect ancestors and live by the philosophy rather than fervently worshipping it as a religion. What can I say, we like the scientific principle.
Here is the core difference between Taiwan and Mainland. If the entire Chinese race is a family. The mainland is the elder brother, the one who is expected to represent the family, handle the family business and fight off rivals and invaders. As result, the mainland is more concerned with what is most practical and pragmatic. The mainland considers attributes that allow our country to be most competitive in the world to be the most important. Taiwan is like a second or third son in the family. There is very little expectation for them to handle the responsibilities of the family, as result, nobody will stop, or quite frankly, care what exactly they do to pass their time.

Taiwan is not a country, it's a province within a country; there is no country called "Taiwan", any intelligent and knowledgeable person would know that... Also, "Going alone" is the worse thing we could do because Mainland China is going to be a super power in the future and most likely will develop a very strong soft power that will definitely replace Japan's soft culture in Asia, so wanting to "go alone" would be shooting our own foot and launching our heads into our own arses in the long run, it's moronic, and only stupid slutty bimbo FB dilhole girls would agree about being independent, the rest of the populace of Taiwan are smart enough not to advocate to have a country called "Taiwan".

indian friends.....if you really want to talk about chinese culture and history with chinese,at least get some history knowledge please....

so what race are you? the master race?

ROC made China a weak pu$$y getting raped by everyone, while PRC made China a strong united nation.

We Chinese don't need the non-Chinese folks telling us who is more Chinese.

PS, when it comes to film the historical dramas, the dramas produced by PRC are awesome, while those produced by HK/TW are nothing but a big joke.

It is bullsh!t to call that HK/TW have preserved more Chinese civilization than Mainland China.

ROC China is not china? Remember, ROC is also part of us. Basically, it's part of our history. Dont hate your past.

Because PRC is running by the Chinese communism, only the Mainlanders adopt this ideology, if you want to run PRC, then you must adopt this ideology as well.

However, HKers and Taiwanese are still adopting the capitalism, thus they are unsuitable to run China. :coffee:

we dont have communism here, we have authoritarianism and bureaucratism here.
