The Afghan government sought USSR help to tackle the menace of the jihadists. They did not have any evil intention of ruling the Afghans. I am sure Afghanistan would have been a better place if Soviets had won.

Why dont you say the truth instead of using the term freedom fighters? The truth is that the Taliban in Afghanistan is considered an asset by Pakistan and the Taliban in Pakistan is enemy for them. Pakistan can only hope that AT be a force of good for pakistan in the future, although it is not gauranteed, the TTP and AT come from the same ideology group, from the same category of people and ethnic group, in the long run it may not be good for paksitan as the Taliban are not only religious extremists, but also ethnic nationalists.
