Z-10 Gunship Back With PAA

Why even bother with helicopters that have almost no armor? We seen what happened to the T-129 recently in Syria where small arms fire shot one down.

In one operation in Iraq, 29 of 31 Apaches were hit by ground fire, with one apache being hit 29 times, only 2 of the Apaches were shot down. Same thing applies to Mi-24s, they have taken tremendous damage and returned safely.

Underpowered and underarmored helicopters are good for civilian use or recon.

You have valid point. Non newly marketed helo is battle tested. Right now militants in restive zones in the world has too many small guided weapons, which can easily knock down helicopter , if they don t have proper protection from incoming .

Interesting development. Personally, I would not want us to be overly reliant on only Chinese goods and still hope that the Turkish helos make the final cut. The chatter of the past few month suggested we are going for the Turks. Let's hope we stay that course.

I think the whole thread is based on @Tipu7 tweet about the supposed arrival of Z10 supplemented with old pics.
There is no confirmation that Z10 is back. I believe that people are now uploading old pics of Z10 which is creating this hoax. There is no justification for Z10 return.

What i know from my source is that z10 never left! but i may be wrong.......

I hope it's for testing. Purchasing it wouldn't really be smart in my opinion...since that would mean three different attack helicopters(AH1Z/ATAK/Z10). Pak should pick one and start producing at least some parts in house with ToT. That would greatly simplify maintenance/support infrastructure and allow Pak to induct bigger quantities.
Exactly, instead of buying three different, buy one with in large numbers with ToT and gradually indigenise it by following a realistic but aggressive deletion plan.

True that, but we are talking in general terms on a policy level without going into particulars. I have no tilt towards one system or the other since it is the job of the experts involved in testing and their bosses.
But my wish is that we should get the system under ToT and produce in large numbers whenever we need them and also be able to upgrade the system and eventually develop our own indigenous platform (in future).
Models to follow are JF17, Supermashaq (i.e. with rights to export)

No helicopter in this world can take GUIDED weapons, only they can take small arms and some can take .50 only.

.
In that case, i should be probably banned for six months thus fulfil a few wishes here.
Well mate if you standby the news...then I believe it...of course such routine matters are not made public by ISPR.

Yes they can and they have but it's rare. Large helicopters such as the Mi-24 have large empty space and enough armore around the engine to sometimes survive a MANPAD.

Helo can't survive MANPADs but may be they can crash land and crew survive.

To be honest, i picked it up on twitter and it was posted by same person who earlier posted claiming first images of Mi-35s in Pakistan.....but i seem to have a certain fan club who never let go an opportunity to be critical and nit picks.
