Yes, and India is the continuation of the British empire. Just like Germany today is a continuation of Nazi Germany, which inherit from Wilmahr, which inherit from the German empire. British India was split up because of religious reasons. But British India could be a fraction of itself. The rest being the French India, Portugese India and maybe even independent empires such as Sikh empire or Mysore Sultanate.

Another indication that the kingdoms of Indian empire do not recognize one whole India nation is that when Bangal was being invaded by the British, the kings or prices of other Indian kingdoms do not regard the nation of India as being invaded. As you see, India is a geographical location, a subcontinent of Asia. Just as much Europe is compose of kingdoms and is a subcontinent of Asia.
