Gwadar port: jobs for locals | Newspaper | DAWN.COM

THE right of operation of the Gwadar Port has recently been given to China. At the national level, many people have appreciated the deal because they believe that China can operate the port more effectively unlike Singapore.

However, the people of the province were not taken into confidence by the federal government before it took this decision. The port should be operated with care and local people should be taken into confidence and given priority in appointing staff at the port.(in africa chinese use their own management and their own labour force, thus giving jobs to their own people more than the locals)

As a result of this policy, the port will have a positive impact on the economy and will open new vistas for trade and industrial progress in the country.

yepp locals will surely....where they fit into..

then indians will take all the jobs.

you are being preety rude mam...:nono:

No priority shriority , you get educated first !!!! and get your act straight enough of this I am born here I am first

No ... you get educated first get degree and show ambition and certainly base on merit

well wether they got higher jobs or not much jobs and ways will open for Baloch locals expect Gawadar and they surely will get em....

they can train balochis, and then get them the job :enjoy: (where ever the train and work rule implies)

but on the same side, where so ever knowledge and education is necessary it should be handed over to the educated people. :pakistan:

I think they will be given jobs. local labour is easier to find than any other labour.

i say ever pakistani who has the education should be the first to be given a job, i myself am holding my investment in Baluchistan until IK becomes pm then its gonna be a game of money :pakistan:

here is PTI homework in this regard.

but I must say, apart from the Urdu Speaking community and Pathans, most of Pakistani nation is lethargic in their daily lives and hence toward development.

Baloch, Sindhi and Punjabi in particular generally like to live as "wailay" and complain about how the government is so bad...

but hopefully PTI will cater these shortcoming as well.

Most of the High level staff or even lower level staff would be from Punjab and Karachi. Labour jobs, watchman duties would be taken by Pashtuns. A Baloch would be simply not appointed for a reason that they are not trustworthy due to their ongoing separatist ambitions, if any baloch is considered for job there would be intensive background check on him.
Lakki cement factory is owned by an urdu speaker businessman of karachi, its office is in karachi but its factory is implanted near mineral-rich shiekh badin mountains of my district. All engineers and high staff consist of punjabis and mohajirs while labour jobs are given to locals. Its not that there are not any local engineers, they are simply not preferred. In the same way i am told by swabiwals that most of the engineers/officers in tarbela dam are punjabis, locals are not even allowed to roam freely in the area.

Did local baloch got job when Gawadar was made???

What a stupid question, The job will be given to eligible one. Since baloch lag study/education they may not get high end job, but low end jobs can be given to them.

AFAIK, Pakistan don't discrimnate based on sect..

and i support it. i being a baloch know the education level of Balochs. we have some good educated people but most of Balochs are kept away from education by sardars. because if normal baloch gets educated who will worship and follow them.

inshallah with the coming of pti things will begin to change for everyone :)

the people of the province

No need to blame the Chinese. The local Baluch people were screwed by the Sindhi/Punjabi elite long before the Chinese ever set foot.

Wrong.

People who have been systematically marginalized and disadvantaged should be helped by the government to level the playing field. Pakistan has been stealing Baluch natural resources for decades without adequately compensating the locals. Whatever pittance is paid gets eaten up by the Baluch sardars (feudals).

Any natural resource of Baluchistan must benefit the local people first and foremost.

There is a LOT of ethnic nepotism by various groups and racism against Baluchis. That's why the government MUST make sure the locals don't get screwed on Gwadar, like everything else in Baluchistan.

I do know that sardars do not promote education but do they prevent people from getting education?
Is there any sardar of your tribe and what kind of person he is?
