India has 29 states mostly divided linguistically, but many a times a particular caste is also associated with particular state with rich history like Jats in Haryana, Maratha in Maharashtra, Rajputs in Rajasthan, Gorkha from NE similarly Sikhs are from Punjab but they have both in IA Punjab regiment and Sikh regiment also. So, it's less caste and religion more geography actually.
