I do accept creation of Pakistan. What I don't accept is the way its been run for the past 68 years!

The way I see it, if someone from Congress wants to make a coup and claim Congress, he should rather climb the Mount Everest and jump from the top. A tent with a new name on it will do better than Congress. So I think Congress will suffer this painful slow death over a generation. May be after that.

Congress as a party needs Maa-beta rather than other way around. There'll be too many Congress' mushrooming within no time once the Gandhi name is detached from the party! No wonder they don't give two hoots despite drubbings after drubbings!

I will be very surprised if AAP goes past end 2016.

I hope the AAP (despite all my reservations) does genuine good in Delhi and makes it a better place to live and a more prosperous place in line with that the central government is doing across India. Anti-corruption is all well and good but now they have to govern.


+ from what I hear the central govt still has a lot of say in the NCR's affairs so will development still be able to go along in the NCR despite the AAP being in power (if they chose to be a disruption)

My post was directed at the British Hindu.

Scheduled Castes is a whole different can of worms.

I would put the population of Hindus in India at less than 500 million, in terms of a RSS/BJP vote base.

In terms of caste, in Maharashtra, with its Brahmanical Nagpur roots, the BJP is still seen as different to the Maratha Shiv Sena which is more son-of-the-soil and militant. Uneasy lies the crown in Mumbai.

I agree that the term Hindu itself is a misnomer. The British basically called whoever they cannot classify as Hindu. But look at the RSS/BJP, their entire sob story is that Hindus despite being 80% are discriminated against. BJP has to call them as Hindu otherwise India won't be a Hindu nation.

I thank God that this happened, otherwise these saffronists would be out running and marking people as Hindu and non-Hindu. The only thing that is stopping them is that there are a lot Hindus who the BJP want to be with them. And the more they try to get these Hindus by showing religious symbolism, the more they drive these Hindus away. India is beautifully balanced that way.

U dint get it. When u say strict capitalism, its actually capitalism with govt blind support. Having progressive taxation doesnt mean u are anticapitalist or socialist. Socialist as an ideology is lot different. It talks bout equal distribution of wealth. Suppose if I tax diffrentially but not distribute the money to the poor, its still a failure.

Point is, socialism just like capitalism will be a failure if govt dont do their job upto the mark. Hence, dont blame capitalism but blame govt policies and the laws they pass.

When I say capitalism, I refer to the well oiled pipe you mentioned without government selection of winners and losers and leaving everything to the markets. Taxation is a way of disturbing markets.

Socialism is not distribution of money to the poor. It is social ownership of means of production. Progressive taxation is a socialist measure because its purpose is welfare, which is the cornerstone of socialist system. I am not a fan of socialism, but welfare is very important because India is a poor country. Even if we are able to go on with 10% growth for 100 years with a capitalist system, our Human Development Index will stay where it is or may even get worse. Because as I said it is easier for rich to get richer.

More people will get into middle class. But this number will stagnate after sometime. And you are comfortable with this because you are not among the people in need of drinking water. You would say "Well, they should have earned enough to buy water from corporation". And you would be buying life insurance, health insurance, back pain insurance to make sure your family doesn't get to that situation.

Do not wish unto others what you don't want done unto yourself. Have a little empathy for people.

You'll be surprised to know that there are few CMs in India who do a great job...but are never in the news! Some of them are not even known to people from outside their state! There's one such CM called Manik Sarkar, longest serving CM in the history of Tripura, with impeccable reputation. I bet you.. 75% of Indians wouldn't have heard about him!
