Why did Pakistanis decided to keep Thier pre-islamic sirnames while Muslims in rest of the South Asia didn't?

Why did Pakistanis decided to keep Thier pre-islamic surnames while largely Muslims in rest of South Asia didn't?

You rarely see Muslims of Bangladesh, India even Sri Lanka with Thier pre Islamic sir names
All of them pretty much use first name as last or minority use foreign name
and are generally aggressively against this whole buisness of clans/caste (we are agressivelly against this too)/tribes

While here you seem to find people using Thier pre isalmic sir names

It's an interesting phenomenon on how eventhough we are all Muslims of SC but we devaloped in a different way compared to other Muslims of south Asia

How did it happen? Why did Muslims in rest of the south Asia just did a complete 180 degree turn?

Why didn't we followed Thier example?

Indian or subcontinental people have very strong DNA, and so are our identities.

In Rajasthan and Gujarat states of india many Muslim people have them as well

It was for the better a lot of us retained a part of our pre Islamic history and kept our surnames. I personally have an Arabic/Islamic surname.

well plenty of Muslims in rest of SA crap talk us because of it, that's why my interest in this question in the first place
half-pagan or this makes us less of a Muslim to them

Most of people west of Indus would have Arabic, Persians and Turkic surnames.

Only people East of Indus would have caste sub names.

Who cares about what some 3rd rate wannabe Arabs have to say. I see it as us doing something right if they are blabbering shit.

Pakistanis kept their pre-Islamic surnames because, Islamically speaking, you should track your patrilineal lineage. It's the same reason why the ancient Arab clans, Persian families, Turkic tribes, etc, all kept their pre-Islamic surnames too.

Interestingly, a lot of Muslims actually lost track of their original tribes/clans during the European Colonial Age due to losing lots of kin (to wars, famine, etc) or losing status. However, "pre-Islamic surnames" were very common and weren't an issue.

Ultimately, all humanity comes from Adam AS (and, if you follow some interpretations, Nuh AS). So, having a "pre-Islamic" surname doesn't mean anything because (acc. to Islam) all of humanity comes from Adam AS, i.e., the original Mu'min. They're just names. Our status is (or should be) based on ideas, actions, and character. @SQ8

It's a different culture with its own traditions and customs.

People of modern-day Pakistan had a tribal social structure while people of modern-day India largely had a caste social system.

Our surnames are defined by our tribe/biradari/clan which does not change after conversion.

The companions changed their names if the name had an element of shirk or kufr otherwise they retained their names. Most of the time they named their children Abdullah and abdurahman etc

Regardless, Muslims did keep their tribal names and such. So I don't see why it would be a problem for Muslims of South Asia

Lower caste people of the subcontinent reverted to Islam to escape Hindu casteism. Hence Muslims of Subcontinent only carry tribe names and not caste names.
