Why China's New Aircraft Carrier Should Worry India

Yes, indeed it is worrying. India need another decade to match Chinese military might, given that India grows at a rate of 7 to 8% for another decade.

Someone give this bengali red colored pompoms. Cheerleading is just not the same without it.

Let us be realistic here.

China sees India as no threat. China is ramping it's military to confront the US and no other country is even in the picture.

In 10 years time, China will be launching 100,000 tonne nuclear carriers. What will India reply with?

India is a military power in Asia, and they have three aircraft carriers.

There's rumor that US probably sell EMALS and AAG system to India, India could build a Ford class aircraft carrier with assistance from US.

They cannot afford one that is 100,000 tonnes in weight.
Also where will India get the large and sophisticated escorts like Type-55 destroyer and Type-095 SSN to protect this carrier?
Unless the US starts giving many billions of dollars a year in military aid to India every year, then India cannot hope to come close to matching China in CBGs.

Let the Indians dream of ruling IOR as that is all it will ever be for them.

India spent 3x money for their INS Vikramaditya, so it's not surprising that they would like to pour billions to acquire one or two decent carrier group if US and its allies intend to hook India in their team. India recently signed deals with Korea on naval ships construction.

Anyway, China will always out-build India many times over.

We Indians have no problem with China . We also want to follow the footsteps of China , we are also getting a strong Navy . It is the US controlled Indian media that is huffing and puffing we are not worried.
Indian Navy is the second strongest in the Indian Ocean region after US navy and we are happy with that.

Any ways congrats China that is a good looking carrier.

China has approached this disparity with a much clearer strategy in mind, as well as a far more rational evaluation of its relative strength. Rather than focusing on matching America’s carrier fleet, China first emphasized asymmetric weaponry such as ballistic missiles and submarines, a reflection of the Soviets’ successful Cold War strategy. Only now — as its interests and capabilities have grown — is it pouring resources into developing carrier groups.

By contrast, India’s carrier-first strategy has drained the navy of resources and left it with just 13 conventional submarines in service

India’s problem isn’t ultimately a shortage of money; it’s a lack of forethought and political courage. Carriers are big and showy, and bolster national pride; diesel submarines don’t, or at least not to the same degree.

So true.. Not just in defense matters but even regarding the economy and political influence India vastly overestimate herself, And gets dragged back to reality in spectacular fashion

I just find it funny China,Russia, and India are building missiles they claim that can kill a Nimitz in one hit, but then go on to build expensive aircraft carriers :dance3:

It is basically same as you produce air defence missiles and aircraft at the same time, or anti-tank missiles and tanks and amoured vehicles.

Shields and spears go hand in hand.
