I actually like America; visited Chicago, DC and NYC a few months ago !

Great country....great people !

Chicago was cold as hell !

But the people were really nice !

NYC looked pretty unplanned when compared with Chicago !

But again the people were nice !

DC was beautiful !

Chicago and NYC . They both stink. Literally too. D.C. is nice, I really like the water-front, but when it's tourist season we avoid it like the plague. Too crowded, but during the Cherry Blossom Festival we make our way around town.

But I got the impression that Pakistanis don't enjoy the best of image there in the US.....which was a bit sad considering that we're not that bad actually....we're pretty hospitable, warm and loving people !

Regrettably, since 9/11 anyone looking Middle-Eastern, even if they aren't is approached with suspicion. You'll find this in Russia too as a result of the Chechen Wars and the presence of foreign fighters.

And now @Víðarr that you've interacted with us Pakistanis; its your job to be our unofficial PR agent there !

If you're walking with your lady on the sidewalk, I still like to see a man walking street-side, to protect the lady from traffic. I grew up with that, and I hate to see something like that get lost. Oh come on Chicago was a really nice place; especially the boat tour we took through the city !

Though for some reason I was freezing like a popsicle in May while people were running about in their shorts - It was as if the cold breeze blowing in from Lake Michigan didn't affect them at all !

But everyone was really nice to us especially those who had interacted with Pakistanis in particular an Italian American taxi driver in NYC who drove us around !

All in all it was a wonderful experience to visit the US !

when did insults so become part of life that i "handle them"?? and it is enough to judge from my posts that i am not a college boy whose words routinely have f-words or their desi equivalent, and routinely gather in a pack to make fun of someone alone.
