Apna bhojan ka time ho gya hai. Pait pooja. Time to feed the tummy. from this thread for today.

Nope au contraire this documentary was very neutral. It had interviews of ppl from both Pakistan and India, some of 'em wanted patition while others never understood why it was forced on 'em.
But I know you won't watch it....khair jaane do.

Okay I'll watch it; post a link

So far as the Partition is concerned it wasn't forced on us anymore than the Independence of British India from our Colonial masters was. We decided our fate when we decided to support our leaders of choice and the viewpoints they represented.

On my part I would not have it any other way; even if I were to die and be reborn a thousand times I'd still want to be born a Pakistan each and every single time.

but it never worked for us lot

if you are talking about nehru, he borrowed a few ideas from ussr ( like planning commission/five-year-plans ) but his governance was mostly capitalist and his allegiance was mostly western bloc ( like the american government scientists who set up the indian "green revolution" )... and when did nehru ever have socialist economic policies... he didn't even talk of shutting down the bombay stock exchange ( one of the world's oldest ).

if you are talking about the communist parties of india, then they have realized their folly of dividing in the 60's and since 2014 ( after defeats in kerala and wb ) they have been speaking about reunification and consolidation of strengths ( at least of the public communist groups ).

@levina

Armyy not everyone thinks like you. Yes, to some partition was a dream come true, but to some it was crushing blow.
And next time when you're reborn Pakistan will be a state of India. :P
Kidding!!!
Today I feel partition was a good decision...just that it should 've been done gradually, that way clashes could've been avoided.
Do watch the documentary.

I had changed it yesterday morning.
But by afternoon a troll called meong started to troll me and I'd to change it back to Jerry, as I didn't want poor Sara to be sullied.
And then Janon said this to me
There would be no models at all, if they were all afraid of being "sullied" by frustus. I say put the pic back up, and don't let the frustrations of a loveless kid scare us into hiding beauty where it exists.
This was the first time when I saw a troll getting reported by both Indians and Pakistanis alike (never mind the reason!)

Barring a fist full of Pakistanis; the rest of us are pretty happy having our Mulk-e-Khudaadad just as most Indians are happy not being British Indians anymore.

We don't get to choose how events unfold; fanaticism that should've been contained, had the Partition plan not been brought forward by Mountabatten before we in Pakistan had any troops or the semblance of a working administration in place, wasn't because the Viceroy and most of the Congress was more interested in seeing a Pakistan that comes begging back to rejoin the Union than a functioning state that could've stopped the mayhem and chaos of the Partition.

umm... janon gave a surprisingly good suggestion.

if only the easily identifiable fools be removed from pdf, the forum could become a peace-making place.

I hope you can use youtube

Am glad partition was done.
Muslims did have a complain that they were treated worst than the untouchables by hindus. An Islamic state was the only way they could 've protected themselves.
At the same time raison d'etre for blitheness of Indians was that, had muslims been in a greater percentage (than say 20%) then the minority appeasement would 've given the hindus an inferiority complex. I still feel minority appeasement and reservations 've been detrimental to India's secularism.

Afaik Jinnah was adamant about partition (no offence, I understand the reason behind it), so much that Mountbatten called him "cold". And Gandhi along with Nehru and Patel did try to dissuade Jinnah from supporting partition.
If at all Congress leaders had a feeling that "Pakistan would come begging back" (in your words!) then that was because Jinnah didnt want India and Pakistan to cut off their relations completely after partition. He did want to come back to Gujarat during the fag end of his life, isnt it?

I'm assuming you're new to forums because in every forum there's a mod thread (accessible to just the staff) where they discuss raucous members, for that matter any suspicious profile. This helps 'em track the members.

I like janon's posts, he's brusque like you but his posts do make a lot of sense.

You might find it weird, i think doppleganger has the capability to make good sensible posts (but again he too is curt).
The only issue with him is he can not behave himself when the female members are around. He makes very crude posts. That baudet!

Okay I'll watch it when I have some time to spare ! :)

Am glad partition was done.

An Islamic state wasn't what was envisioned Pakistan to be; a pluralistic democracy (not a Secular one mind you) where Muslims can practice their religion and more so have aspects of their religion institutionalized is what Pakistan was envisioned to be.

Afaik Jinnah was adamant about partition (no offence, I understand the reason behind it), so much that Mountbatten called him "cold". And Gandhi along with Nehru and Patel did try to dissuade Jinnah from supporting partition.

Jinnah Sahib wasn't adamant about Partition it wasn't as if he woke up one day and started screaming about Partition. The Muslim cause went from a protest against the pseudo-secular approach of the Congress (the dragging in of Hindu religious symbolism in Politics) to the demand of separate electorates to the demand for provincial autonomy in a federal India with a weak center but strong provinces to finally asking for a separate country when we felt that all avenues of opportunities had been explored with little result to show for it.

So far as I know he envisioned that Pakistan and India would have the same relationship as Canada and the US - thats not the same as the ill-will shown by Monty and the Congress to the nascent state of Pakistan in hopes that it would implode on itself and the Muslims would come begging back to India when they have neither an army nor an administration nor are they released their due funds to cobble together a functioning state.
