Regarding the following thread:
PDF Debate : Can ISIS establish a state in Iraq & Syria?

I thought this article would be a helpful reference, as it directly addresses the debate topic:

How much of a state is the Islamic State? - The Washington Post

The article discusses ISIS's progress on establishing a state based on the following criteria:

1) Tax and Labor Acquisition
2) Defining and Regulating Citizenship
3) Managing International Relations
4) Providing Domestic Security
5) Providing Social Services
6) Facilitating Economic Growth

It's an interesting and substantial look at the issues, and would provide a great contribution to the debate. That said, there seems to be little activity in the thread, so my apologies if the debate has been abandoned.

@WebMaster - Please deal with this issue.

Yes, if I had been participating in the debate, that's exactly the line I would have taken. Medellin, FARC, the Taliban, perhaps even Kurdistan (de facto)--there are many precedents for ISIS, so it's fairly straightforward to argue that ISIS has fulfilled the prerequisites for the establishment of a state, and only requires time at this point to consolidate its infrastructure.

the revolutionary farc in the same category as category of medellin and taliban?? :astagh:

firstly, syria is still a sovereign state which must be helped by russia and others to eradicate the fsa/taliban scum invading it.

secondly, are we now going to debate the merits of a future isis state, foreign relations and all??

thirdly, this "washington post" is essentially a usa government propaganda agency which seems to be legitimizing isis and fsa and ikhwaan and such like taking over syria... why should pdf partake of this obscene propaganda food??

@WebMaster @Horus ^^^

Yes, the parallels are obvious: groups that represent a minority of the population resorting to violence and terrorism, funded by kidnappings, the drug trade, and theft, seeking to impose their extremist ideology in place of an existing mainstream government.

You're right, I regret coming out of lurker mode to take the debate topic seriously. My mistake, it won't happen again.

unable to decide if you are being sincere or sarcastic.

the rightness of a group doesn't depend on how minority they are... if they are right they are right... no revolution suddenly dropped from the sky and became majority at once... every revolution was a minority before it became the system.

the "existing mainstream government" of columbia is a slave of usa government, helping as base for cia terrorism against venezuela and helping destabilize the bolivarian revolution.

farc is a guerrilla revolutionary movement that seeks to establish a independent ( of usa ) socialist system in columbia and join the freedom aspirations of south america.

the columbia government deserves trial in the "international criminal court".

and you mention taliban... they were created by the same bunch as those who fund and arm the puppet government in columbia.

looks like they closed the "how-world-slowly-converting-to-hinduism-the-white-hindus" thread
