Bangalore, April 26
Indiaâs quest for an indigenously developed multi-role light combat aircraft to replace its ageing MIG-21 fleet got a shot in the arm with a weaponised Tejas aircraft taking to the skies successfully at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) air field here today.
The Tejas aircraft, which is part of the first limited series production (LSP-1), remained in the air for 47 minutes during which it achieved supersonic speed with ease, according the Aeronautic Development Agency (ADA).
It was flown by Group Capt A.P. Singh, a test pilot attached with the Aircraft Systems and Training Establishment.
