Seeing the sufferings of Indian Muslims strikes me personally as my grandparents migrated in 1947 from Bareilly. What does 'taken over' mean? As far as the Muslims in Bengal of Bengali origin are concerned, they are thoroughly integrated with Bengali society. The prime identity is language; religion comes second; occupation comes third.

In West Bengal, Mamata Bannerjee has created her own resentful opposition within formerly supportive circles. Her blatant attempts to curry favour with the Muslim community, and the advantage that some spoilt young brats have taken of this, have set up a great deal of resentment - a backlash - among the Hindus. As a result, a BJP that should never have even existed in the list of returned members has made a small bridgehead and is expanding it.

Part of the problem is that these obstreperous Muslims are up-country Urdu-speakers, nothing to do with us.

Assam is too complicated a situation for even the Assamese.

Unfortunately to some people, it is difficult and somewhat impossible for them to accept that majority of Muslims in India are simply not willing to pick up arms to fight Pakistan's cause. In Gujarat for example, many of the Muslims face the same resentment (together with the Hindus and other infidels) of non Gujjus migrating to their State, irrespective of religion of the migrants

What is the actual population of Muslims in India? It surely is enough to form a majority in one or two states like the Sikhs and Buddhists do in Punjab and Sikkim. That is something to be looked into. Can't say much without the Sanghi rats here catching up on that and trying to prevent it.
