Miandad wants PCB to boycott India in ICC events
Maverick Pakistani cricket legend Javed Miandad slammed the country's cricket board for trying to revive bilateral cricket ties with India despite the repeated BCCI snubs.
The former Pakistan captain also asked PCB to boycott India in ICC tournaments like the World Cup, Asia Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy and the World T20 Championships.
"It is time we responded with bricks to stones. There is no need for us to play with India at any forum if they are not willing to restore bilateral ties. We should also boycott playing against them in all ICC events," Miandad was quoted as saying by Pakistan media.
Miandad then revealed the reason behind his appeal.
"I think when we don't play India in ICC events and the ICC suffers financial losses and their events lose significance and colour, it's only then that we will be treated with respect and we will be heard on a equal level at any forum," he said.
"If the ICC board is not able to convince India to change its stance why should they expect us to play in the ICC events with India?" he asked.
"Boycott them in ICC events. Take a stance and see what will happen. We have nothing to lose," Miandad said.
So, should Pakistan boycott India in ICC events?
It was only in June that Pakistan beat India in the Champions Trophy final in London.
If Pakistan had refused to play that final match against India, then the Indian team would have been declared winners of the tournament as per the rules.
So will it be a rational move from the Pakistan cricket board?
