Pakistan’s Cricket Team Faces 'Fever' Challenge Ahead of Australia Match

In the heart of Bengaluru, the Pakistan cricket team is grappling with a health scare that could potentially rattle the foundations of their campaign in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. Yet, amid the swirling uncertainties, the team’s spirit remains unscathed, their resolve unwavered.

Cricket Amid the Fever

The team’s opener, Abdullah Shafique, has been grappling with a fever. His teammates, Shaheen Afridi and Usama Mir, have also wrestled with similar symptoms but have since returned to the field, their health restored. However, contrary to initial fears, team sources have allayed concerns of a viral infection, affirming that the players’ health is not a concern.

In a fervent display of prudence, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cancelled a planned training session on Tuesday, allowing the players to rest and recover. Despite the fever, the team’s performance in the tournament remains unaffected, their eyes firmly set on the upcoming match against Australia.

Rebounding from Defeat

The fever isn’t the only challenge the Pakistan team is facing. Their defeat at the hands of India has left them in a crucial position in the tournament. After beginning their campaign with two consecutive wins, the loss to their arch-rivals has been a significant blow. Yet, the team remains undeterred, their sights set on their upcoming match with Australia.

However, Australia too is looking to bounce back, having had a challenging start to the tournament. Both teams stand at the precipice of a crucial game, where a victory could significantly bolster their positions in the tournament.

Navigating Challenges On and Off the Field

Beyond the fever and the defeat, the Pakistan team has been navigating other challenges as well. PCB chief Zaka Ashraf, who was present at the match against India, has returned from India and is reportedly in talks with senior board officials to discuss his visit. Circumstances of his visit have remained shrouded in mystery, sparking further uncertainties.

Moreover, the team’s director and chief coach, Mickey Arthur, has spoken about the impact of the crowd’s behavior on his team. In response, ICC chairman Greg Barclay has emphasized the governing body’s efforts to ensure the World Cup’s success.

Despite these obstacles, the Pakistan cricket team remains steadfast in their pursuit of victory. The fever that has seized them is but a transient challenge, one they are determined to overcome. Their spirit, their resolve, remains unbroken, undimmed. As they prepare to face Australia in their upcoming match, the team stands united, their sights set on turning the tide of their campaign.

Agenda against Babar Azam clearly by Pakistani Media channels and some players etc.

‘Abrar Ahmed was sidelined to save Shadab Khan by Babar Azam’

Dosti yaari! Popular cricket respondent Nauman Niaz has raised a number of objections on Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s strategy for ICC World Cup 2023 including “sidelining Abrar Ahmed for Shadab Khan”.

Watch ARY News live on live.arynews.tv

In an interview, the video of which is going viral on social media, Nauman Niaz said that he will bluntly analyse all the mistakes the Pakistan cricket team captain or management did while planning for World Cup 2023.

Nauman Niaz – speaking about the team selection and performances in the ongoing tournament – claimed that no one kept Babar Azam in check when he rose to fame on the back of his performances. He said the right-handed batter tried to become bigger than what he was.

The sports journalist said that Babar Azam did not allow any talented cricketer other than his friends to get into the team so not to disturb his comfort zone.

Citing examples, he said Shadab Khan and Usama Mir were picked for the 50-over tournament when they were T20 specialists. He said the former was kept in the ODI team as he was friends with the captain.

He said the Shadab Khan and pacer Haris Rauf do not perform well in ODIs and Test cricket as he is not familiar with First Class.

Nauman Niaz went on to say that Abrar Ahmed was the main option as he excelled in five-day cricket. He said those in charge are “intellectually dishonest” given the fact they fear that the leg-spinner would become Shadab Khan’s replacement if he does well.

Nauman Niaz said that ODI cricket is similar to Test cricket where you have to play and plan session to session so those who cannot perform in first-class cricket cannot play the longer formats of the game but still Shadab was preferred over Abrar Ahmed, who surprised everyone by his performance in Test cricket.

He said that pacer Hasan Ali is performing to the best of his ability while batters Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel too are performing well despite not being a part of Pakistan’s World Cup plan.

He claimed Mickey Arthur was a disaster and the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf wanted to replace him with someone else till former cricketers advised him not to do so as he would be blamed if the World Cup 2023 campaign went wrong.

Best most interesting match in the world cup due to Pakistan & South Africa in a ICC World Cup 2023 full of controversies, bad umpiring decisions, lack of tickets, issues and one of the most "boring" ODI World Cup by ICC and BCCI in the history of the Worldcup.

This Worldcup had beautiful stadiums in India but one of the most biased, boring, controversial ever Worldcup conducted. Lacked nail-biting finishes and wrong decisions by organizers mar this worldcup in history.

Rizwan's interference is so bad, full of political games. His urge for becoming a captain. Selfishness to become captains like Shaheen Shah Afridi/Rizwan and supporting friends in the team have destoryed this Cricket Team, and it will bounce back on Rizwan/Afridi if one of them become a captain.

Cannot understand why "Abrar Ahmed" is not playing in ICC world cup, cricketers say. Atleast 8 players in current Pakistan team needs to be replaced for good.

Your media is highly unfair and brutally dishonest for your cricket star players. Pakistan fan has to accept than except Babar and Afridi rest of the players in current team as well as your reserves are not upto the mark for 50 over match. Media is unnecessary opportunist to criticise Babar as if another Wasim Akram or Saeed Anwar is in your reserve who could have performed better.

If Abrar would have chosen they would have said mir isn't been selected due to shadab

Bottom line is something is wrong in selectors unable to find good spinners

Seems iftikhar is better then most spinners in Pakistan team 😂

And will stay on fifth spot unless a miracle happen

To be fair, Shadab instead of Abrar was not a bad decision.

That’s the best 15 Pakistan had to offer. Injuries to Naseem, and niggles to Shadab and Shaheen was just bad news.

Only thing they could have done is to not select Imam ul Haq but again that’s 50-50.

Again, nothing wrong with selection.

Unfortunate injuries and weak captaincy in terms of bowling plans, bowler selection, batting strategy and match awareness.

Disagree, in past one year what has Muhammad Nawaz Khan from Nowshera KP has ever done any good for Pakistan Cricket team. Nawaz has been a consistent failure, a consistent bowling and batting nightmare, he should be either replaced by Abrar Ahmed or Imad Wasim. Due to Babar dosti yaari culture, Imam, Nawaz Khan and Shahdab khan are consistently playing in the team.

Both Salman Ali Agha and Nawaz has been greatest disappointment in ODI cricket since 1 year. So why cannot they be dropped. Imagine Pakistan Cricket Team Playing XI with Imad Wasim and mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, it would have been a power house of a team.

Yes, Nawaz was a bad selection. Could have got Abrar or Imad Wasim instead.

Good point.

So.... now for Pakistan to go to semis. 3 teams need to keep losing constantly.
