Vietnam protests China's military exercise in South China Sea

it is not important whether violated or not.
if necessary, we could destroy their entire navy including all its navy bases within one simple battle.

that is the important point.

Vietcong has the attempt to take the Taiping Island which is still under the control of ROC. If they do so, then it would provide us a good excuse to take back the Spratly Islands.

I am so scared. What happens if viets invade our country, take our land and rule our people?
Wait a second, Vietnam? Is that the backwards communist country with a shitty 1000 USD GDP per capita?
Ah, we can take their capital within days, like what we did 30 years ago.

What are you talking about?? China lost the war against Vietname in 1979. Unless you are talking about another conflict no one knows about.

He's doing a bit of chest thumping and it was only a provincial capital that the PLA capture and even that was only taken through sheer will and sacrifice. The poor performance of the PLA in war was what started the modernization program we see today.

We didn't lose in the border conflict against Vietnam, but it is true that their army gave us quite a headache.

Because 1979 was just three years after the cultural revolution, our military industry was badly damaged during the cultural revolution, therefore we didn't manage to beat them with ease.

But today, it would be a totally different story.

We didn't lose. We took land and inflicted more casualties on them then they did to us. It was not considered a total victory because we didn't do it easily like in the Sino Indian war or perform as well during the Korean War.

We should have won with ease but we did not. We still won however by any military standard.

By your standard the US isn't losing in Afghanistan, and didn't lose the Korean war or Vietnam war, because we inflicted more casualties than we gained.

Victory is noted by completion of objectives, not casualty lists from either side.

Granted the verdict is still out on Afghanistan, but we know Chinese views on the Korean war and Vietnam war.

That said Korean war in actuality was a small loss for North Korea, a win for China, and a draw for the UN/US forces. South Korea was safeguarded, but North Korea wasn't totally taken out. North Korea experienced a small loss of territory, and China's objective of keeping North Korea as a buffer state was achieved.

You "won" by what military standard? Chinese standard? You lost badly by sheer number of casualties and you lost badly even politically. You could not even force Vietnam to withdraw from Cambodia either. Vietnam ended up destroying the Khmer Rouge your ally and install a pro-Vietnam government that is still in power today.

And what land did Vietnam lose? In the 1999 Gulf of Tonkin treaty, we still ended up taking 53% of the total area of the Gulf. :smokin:

More propaganda from your banana republic dictators huh? Don't worry about that. Provoke us again and you'll get to see what raining metal looks like.

so you are actually saying that PLA lost more than Vietcom? lol, why the viet part never published its own real casualty numbers? because vietcom is too insecure, so the propaganda is all about exaggerating PLA's casualties but hiding its 'shame' number of casualties. dont u know the fact that PLA taught vietcome how to fight in first place!

the aim of china in 1979 was to secure Langson and then withdraw. PLA succeed to accomplish that mission ahead of schedule without compromise. If the war maintain for another month, the whole vietnam will be occupied. but they have no intention to do that. Did we lose politically? No. Soviet Union was china's primary enemy long before that. After 1979, the relationship between China and the west, particularly the US, improved by leaps and bounds, and usher in a new age of tremedeous economic and diplomatic development. your indo-china peninsula nation dream was smashed and and lost great opportunity for development and yet feel lucky for China's clemency?

today's china can destroy Vietnamese navy in 20minutes and occupied vietnam in less than one month. Vietnamnese army has incredibly obsolete weaponry yet small in size and a war between china and vietnam will be a blood bath for vietnamnese people. current viet govt do understand that well and is playing pragmatic foriegn policy to china. Some moron ultra-nationalists like you are even arrested for stir-up speech in Vietnam. I believe vietnam will learn to act positively under sphere of china's influence though pee the rug occasionally.

Please..your goal was to march to Hanoi in the same day that you launched the war..but you failed miserably. At the 17th or 18th day your troops were still got stuck at Cao Bang and Langson. Vietnam taught China a good lesson of overestimating yourself and underestimating us. And now you want talk about occupy Vietnam in less than a month.

Modern warfare needs air superiority to successfully invade a country. Let's take a look at Iraq for example. The U.S and its allies combined outnumbered the Iraq's airforce 1500 to 0 in term of modern aircraft, yet it took the allies like almost a month to control the sky. (Iraq did not even have S-300 like Vietnam). Add that to the fact Iraq is nothing but a desert, meaning nothing can be hide to conceal from the sky.

China at the very best outnumbered Vietnam 10 to 1 in in term of modern combat aircrafts. Add that to the fact that the terrain of Vietnam is densly mountain and jungle, meaning our defense position can be easily hide and conceal. Air superiority over Vietnam in less than a month? Get out the here along with 50% of your airforce.:argh:

And Vietnam never had a dream of Indochina nation dream so talking out of the blue does nothing to save your face. Vietnam did not attach Cambodia until 3 years after the Khmer Rouge keep launching attack on Vietnam.

Are you getting the hearsays or legends from Vietnamese mouth?

I thought that is a joke.

Who lost again???

Really? How far was our army from your capital then??? I thought your government was fleeing. The CCP decided to withdraw since our army has been inside VN for too far.
