We don't want that...

Further if you convert currency difference then Indian imported cars also very high price.

No need you keep your junk with you.

Your choice. India makes some of the best cars in the world at a very competitive price.

Cars catching fire is a regular occurrence

Maybe if you had enough cars on your roads, you would know that.

as i had anticipated, the dollar hike and IMF economic 'shock therapy' is showing its first tell tale signs

vehicle prices have gone off the roof and are now simply un-affordable for the middle class ( except ofcourse the PTI fanboys who live in their mom's basement , like mr ghazi and mr azad pakistan )

but no , there are no comparisons to post soviet Russia ,, its all #fakenews !

Indus motor, Honda ,suzuki have all jacked up car prices

Are u ignorant? Or what?
Which one of the cars mentioned here in list are used by middle class ?

Yes. That is why there is a 3 month wait time for a freaking corolla.

Because Toyota is a smart company, it only starts manufacturing of a car in Pakistan when it is "ordered", cars are not produced like "Parkoras" in advance and then wait for the customers to come and buy them. These car companies don't believe in maintaining an inventory of cars without placed orders, it is crazy amount of money to manufacture cars and unless there are genuine orders in place the car companies all over the world don't produce them like Pakoras in advance.

I thought you said (in EV thread) that these vehicles are made locally now with steel chaddar and all (except for engine).

What use is the so called local vehicle if its price is jacked up with dollar every now and then. Saare fraudiye hain ye auto cartel wale.

This is why I was talking about increased local sourcing of raw material for EV including power pack instead of importing CKDs.

Guys if you want cheap cars build them at home.

If you keep importing or keep on manufacturing foreign designs your fate will not be changed. Its not government job to manufacture its the private sector. In India its TATA not government of India who drives the sector.

Our comparable economy i.e. Bangladesh has much lower standard of living than ours. Even India's average standard of living is much lower than ours. In short we want to earn and work less but want to have luxurious lives. Those or contradictory things.

In last one decade we closed Pakistan Steel Mills, PIA in losses, closed doen several textile manufacturing units, closed down small scale manufacturing units of Karachi. So what else do you expect?

LOL companies all over the world have cars sitting at dealerships waiting to be driven off the lot. Only rolls royces take time to make on custom orders. Face it. There is no production capacity to meet demand here. The more cars are mass produced the lower the cost per car. These are not specialty hand made items.

But that is the whole point of the recent measures - reduce consumption so as to improve the balance of payments.

Which in turn will reduce economic activity. Increasing Inflation plus high taxes plus reduced economic activity. Never ends well.

The goal here to reduce the import bill, not only for items such as cars and their components, but also imported energy to run them, while also raising revenue for the government.
