Technically speaking, from a purely Islamic perspective, there is no basis to call even the Pakistani soldiers that are killed in action "shaheed". The term shaheed or martyr from the Islamic terminology can refer only to someone who is killed fighting in the cause of God, not someone killed fighting for country or territory

Just to re-phrase his point, Shahadat is an islamic concept. And it has deeper meaning to it, we don't usually allot it to any "aira ghera". It is a highest honor a muslim can be given, so you non-muslims using it for your go-mutra soldiers is not just comical but also offensive.

We can have respect for your soldiers but for that use your own ideology for them like they might be re-incarnated into brahman in their next incarnation, or something like that. That way, we may not agree with you but we would atleast respect them as soldiers. But when you start using our terminologies which are very endearing to us for your soldiers, it is disrespectful and offensive.
