US fines Chinese firm for re-sales to Pakistan nuclear plant

Yara, it's really annoying to produce each and everything that goes into a nuclear plant. Imagine producing ALL of the lets say 4,000 distinct components that make up a PWR.

I can get the 'annoying' bit but I was alluding more towards the 'inability' part of things !

@Armstrong, it's not about easy or how difficult it is. They are squeezing us so that, we are not able to justify the costs involved in putting up 4000 distinct industries to produce the sub-components and assemblies, for just a handful of plants!

All these parts are highly specialized parts (not that difficult to make), however, not also possible to be manufactured in mom-and-pop workshops.

^^ A transit blockade may have very well similar effect on costs for US and the war incorp. might close.. sooner than many long.

In todays world there is no such thing as "indigenous", every nation has varying capability to produce a set number of components locally, all rest are sourced from wherever available at best price, keeping in mind certain QC parameters.

Problem with us is, they won't even let us buy flippin coatings and epoxy. Whatever, doesn't matter, we shall do it ourselves!

Just one question when India was able to build 22 nuke reactors on its own even under sanctions producing a total 4,780 MW then why is Pak still struck with 2-4 Chinese American nuke plants???:what:

Mate, there are varying degrees of sanctions and the force with which they are implemented.

Israel, "technically" is also under sanctions for such stuff, now tell me how the hell did they get all those goodies?

Because they never went nuclear rather developed everything in the shadows, their nuclear program is more secretive than both India and Pakistan. Their sanctions are not on the same level of what India's and Pakistan's were.

As for India and Pakistan, both were sanctioned, and lets face it India was not the best of US friends during the sanctions India developed its own nuclear plants by learning from the designs of old Canadian reactors we had.

Ur example is flawed Israel is an exceptional child whereas Pak & India were placed under similar sanctions(unless u can prove it otherwise with some valid source) rather untill few years back u guys were in American camp n also enjoyed full Chinese tech help...

Whereas we where struggling with our 220 MW reactors but now we have successfully made 500 MW reactor n a 700 MW is also underway besides we r also in advance stage of our Thorium based nuke plant...

There were also some news about India planning to export its own nuke reactor once they go through IAEA check...

Therefore, i think Pak could have also made some small 220 MW nuke reactors on its own based on the originals it imported...:what:

when Pakistan will stop trading these US made banned nuclear products? when Pakistan will say proudly that our nuclear plant is indigeniously made? akhir kab?
these are the reasons why international community had put sanctions on us and we are disrespected worldwide

Some degree of help is needed and their is nothing wrong in that in my opinion.

The issue is when you try to reach out to very high end technology using short cuts you dont have the necessary infrastructure to support the same as their is huge gap in terms of trained people and infrastructure. It would have been ideal for you to spin of a industrial revolution in hitech industry using the present know how or in colaboration with others. To have collaboration in such sensitive areas you need to have strong report card (in terms of past record) and balance sheet.

In the absense of which you will be desperate and desperation leeds to desperate means to achieve the inflated promises made to the nation.

As now you have N weapons your fears should be put to rest and concentrate on nation building and human resouce devlopment. This will improve your standing in committee of nations and people of many nationality will engage more with you in all the fields.I don't see any reason why you can't do it this one upmanship with India is not helping any of our nations.

A peace agreement or a no first use agreement will sooth nerves on both sides of the border and we can concentrate better on more urgent and pressing need of our people. There is no need to look around for Golliath to prove you are David when non exists.

What's wrong, it's a contract between two countries Pakistan and China. How Chinese company completes its commitment, it's their baby. Second no country makes everything, something are produced and many are purchased, Pakistan made what was required still a lot we need to do in many fields. Stop worrying and concentrate on whatever job you do in the best interest of this nation.

Two bolded parts are true.

We have to understand this one day that by making nuclear bomb with smuggling is not good for any of us where its you or us or anyone in the world! Germany, Holland and many other European countries have nuclear power plants since 60 or 70s but they didnt turn it into nuclear bombs because they know that if they made it then the humnanity would be in much danger than any mankind could have ever imagined so FOR GREATER GOOD they sticked to only nuclear plants but in a country like Pakistan or India who got independent on the basis of religion, there is much danger in making nuclear plants here!

Two bolded parts are true.

Yep its true, although i doubt about the markability of our 220 MW reactor when the world is selling 1000 MW reactor.
However, India produces one of the cheapest reactors in the world so it might have some chances. As We are now the world's
most economical
manufacturer of nuclear
reactors. Our cost per unit, of
$1,700 (for a 700mw reactor)
is substantially less than our nearest competitors. The
average international cost is
now between $2,500 and
$3,000 (for a 1,000mw
reactor)....:D
