This pic was posted by reputed journo anantha krishnan. In the pic the empty wt. of AMCA is 18 ton and fuel is 9.5 tonnes which is same as Su 30mki. Still its given as medium wt. 25 tonnes category. With weapones it will be about 34 tonnes. :undecided:

25 tons may not be MTOW. 34 tons MTOW seems too much though but engine power ~ 240Kn should not be any obstacle.

Ultimately the specs seem decent, apart from the Radius.

MTOW is 25t as per IAF ASR ,Internal Fuel and Empty weigh figure is ridiculous

Spending money on amca before tejas mk2 and fgfa are ready is a blunder of epic proportions. We simply will divide our resources and end up with an inferior product. No other country is trying to develop 4 planes at the same time.

Mk1
mk2
amca
fgfa

Thats purely stupid.

MK1 is nearly over ; MK 2 has moved forward quite well
It will fly in three years ;all the difficulties of Mk 1 will help in Mk 2

It is necessary to start AMCA Now ; so that it can be ready
when we want to REPLACE Mig 29 ; Mirage 2000 and Jaguar
AFTER 2030

AMCA will replace three planes ; it is very important

FGFA experience will help in AMCA ; so there is no duplication

MK1 is nearly over
yeah right, just that foc has ben extended to 2016 already.Fair enough we are close.

MK 2 has moved forward quite well
Really laughable..........we have yet to start building a prototype.

FGFA experience will help in AMCA

What experience??
Our contribution will be next to nothing, maybe some composites thats it.
This time the architecture will be total sensor fusion an 5 th generation avionics so 0 chance any indian system is incorporated.Maybe we will replace some russian subsystems but changes will be minor.

Amca is important...............but after we complete mk2 and fgfa.

Shouldn't we focus on developing technologies rather than the whole thing & then fuse them into planes like Tejas or FGFA

Exactly.

Develop a decent.............

1)irst
2)rwr
3)maws
4)jammers
5)at least a 100 kn engine in next 10 years.

That will serve a greater good later on than just buying stuff from outside and assembling that.

Dear @he-man

I would suggest you to Either write your suggestions to DRDO
or better YOU join DRDO

I dont think DRDO people read PDF ; so your expert advice is lost on PDF

How do you know that Are you one of them :-)

Me??
Na,i am in medical field.

I know that because i have been in that forum, the mod there is a serving indian army major, its the most one sided forum ever.

I don't need to waste my paper writing to drdo.By the way there are plenty of drdo folks on ***.

DRDO guys are in Bharat r a k s h a k... That site fits more into their reality.

2016, will be a big year for Tejas, In 2015, IAF will get another 4 aircrafts. By 2016, they will get 8

Not to excited about the delay, but MK2 will get final technical freeze by year end and finally, by 2016, should start building a prototype. So, by next year we should start seeing some real progress.

Agree, It might be a better idea to hold off on AMCA for another few years, enough time to learn from MK2 and FGFA.
