U.S. Effort to Help India Build Up Navy Hits Snag

we need to lease India two Nimitz class carriers

have India pay us to refurbish and upgrade it and India pays to decommission it in the next 25 years

Funny looking at the Chinese lecturing the usage of Aircraft carriers to India  How funny can one get? They started using it only after 2014 and suddenly within a few years became experts at it? That Floating Casino has been officially turned into a training platform. Meaning it wont be used for patrolling.

US standards and our standards are different. They spend about 12B for an AC, and we spend 3B. And we are happy. And most importantly we dont steal anything.

Last time an Indian company planned to sell off it's UK operations it was literally chaos.

Carriers are not patrol vessels for defending coastlines
Well no DUh! Carriers are for projection force and uk doesn't need india but indians need uk. israel doesn't need india but india needs israel.

Not possible currently.

India's current plan is to operate 3 ACs , one Virkrant, one Vikramaditya and one more is Vishal

if it was offered India would take it.

INS Vikramaditya is trash compared to a Nimitz

Affordability

Well then there's your answer

You need to re read my post on the first page.

I am not mocking Pakistan's inability to build or operate and AC, that is understood given Pakistan's limited resources.

I am attributing the foolish comparison of an AC development with tank/Jet fighters developments, to Pakistan's lack of experience with ACs.

I have explained the logical fallacy of this foolish comparison in more detail:

Er.... let me illustrate the logical fallacy here.
Your nation has not come up with its own assault rifle though boasts operational indigenous cruise missiles.

Considering the fact a cruise missile is far more complicated than a assault rifle, should one come to the conclusion given Pakistan could not build its own assault rifle it could never have built its own cruise missiles?

Affordability

alright let's do the math

would cost $2.6 billion to refuel and overhaul a Nimitz

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-huntingtoningalls-carrier-idUSBRE92S0HK20130329

would cost around $250 million to $300 million to run a Nimitz, cost of personnel, jet fuel, etc etc

you would need aircraft for this beast... so let's go with Rafale-M and E-2D Advance Hawkeyes

40 Rafale-M (off the shelf) $6 to $7 billion
4 E-2C/D $1 billion
6 MH-60S seahawks $120 million
6 MH-60 R seahawks $ $240 million

so add that up it would cost India about $10.5 billion for 1 Nimitz

can India not afford $10.5 billion and $300 million a year to operate it?? :what:

Complete BS.
INS Vicky will hit the sea in 2018 and commission in the last quart of that year.

Here are the rebuttals:
1)It has no SR-SAMs: They are not needed as the 64+ highly advanced Barak-8 can engage threat between 0.5km to 90km.It also has AK-630Ms

2)Limited sortie rate: A STOBAR carrier has lower sortie rate than a CATOBAR carrier but as we do not carry as many as Aircrafts as USN we do can make do with lower rates.

3)Vikrant will achieve FOC within 18-24 months if commissioning. Can do it much faster In emergency.
Russia has delivered 42/45 MiG-29K

4)Navy has already chucked the junk CAG report in the dustbin as it was based on 2011-12 situ and not on present situ.

US have never transferred Nuclear powered boats before to anybody. Not sure they will change their laws for India.

I don't think Nimitz class would be good for India. I doubt it would fit our operational doctrine and would just be a huge cost burden on the Navy. Better choice would be smaller or medium size AC in the 65k ton category.

So you beg for used f16, used generators, Saudi money but still end below India in HDI. Try begging harder. Indians will work harder and address all the problems like we are already doing.
Relax bud! This is pretty old habits of our western neighbours. If they don't have anything valuable to say they'll bring toilet/600 million below poverty line argument blah blah nonsense!

Compared to US standards and experience, the IN carrier would not be up to the mark. Pakistan should still not take it lightly.
