ANd? S-400 is an "evolution" of the S-300 and? in the End it's a better, more advanced version... THerefore the price will be different and higher... AND Better than the last s-300 version...

As long as we don't know the specific conditions of this deal we cannot argue whether it's cheap or expensive.
For instance, are they going to produce it in Turkey? Are we getting ToT? etc.

Russia give a production license and/or TOT for its most advanced operational missile system to any country, let alone a NATO country, is unlikely at best IMHO.

If Turkey decides to buy this system, it's for sure that they will purchase different Russian defence systems in the future. In this context, I wouldn't be surprised if Moscow is seeing this deal as a door opener for future cooperations.

Anyways, I am against this deal because of its negative implications for our projects with Western defence companies. I'm in favour of the Italo-French system.

S400 has been said that can intercept at 150km altitude.
This specification as same as SM3 that us never would sell to Turkey.
At that moment there is no other alternatives accept s400 system.
Of course if USA had have offered THAAD for 2 billion , we would think now:)

India's cost of acquisition of 5 S-400 systems is $5.83 billion while that of Chinese acquisition of 6 S-400 systems is only $3 billion. Why so much difference in pricing?!

S 400 SAM system has 4 missile variants.

  1. 400 km (40N6 missile)
  2. 250 km (48N6 missile)
  3. 120 km (9M96E2 missile)
  4. 40 km (9M96E missile)
China not being a part of MTCR, China won't be able to get 40N6 missile. So they are buying 48N6 missiles.

Where as India is buying 40N6 missiles. So India will be paying more cost. And also transfer of technology is included.

Edit- India is buying 5 system and 6000 missiles. Nobody needs second thought to believe that missiles will have to be manufactured in India.

Price do not follow the exponentiel evolution of the sys... it's not bc the s-400 is twice better that his price should be only twice higher...
Western equipment are slighty better...but their price are way higher than this "little" difference...and yet countries still choose those ones... bc of this little advantage...

Well...if you buy the S-400 only for that... then I think it's not the best option... Afterall it's his high altitude & 400km interception capabilities that make him "wanted"

According to wikipedia, aster 30 block1NT has 120 km operational range, not 1500 km, it says that that aster 30 block1NT has the capacity of intercepting 1500km-range ballistic missiles, Aster 30 block1, has the capacity of intercepting ballistic missiles with a range of 600km, like the scud-b.

You can not cover all your territory with one system. 1500 km range cover is not possible under the low altitudes.Beside the range; We don't even know about aster 30 BM interception capacity? When Ballistic Missile falled from 200km space with 15 Mach speed what would aster 30 do?

S-400 is not a purpose but a stop-gap tool until Our national surface to air missiles are ready to be operational. Turkish industry is in serious effort to develop strategic SAM systems to declare independence to protect own airspace without any limitation so This area is considered vital for investments.

What is dev right now it's the naval based one. therefore the land one will come later on.
CAFRAD most optimistic final delivery will be around 6-7 years add few year for the land one and you get almost 9-10 years ( if everything go as planned)
