What's new

Turkish Special Operations Forces

I don't know that they changed their names SÖH from DAGOT..

Anyway, their equipment is basically same as SAT VBSS units, CWU 27P nomex pilot suits and glowes, same black MOLLE plate carriers with flotation attachment and 9mm MP5 smgs with drop-leg magazine holsters. Also with the OD Green BDUs...

So they change their name to SOH, before they were known as DAGOT(Denizde Arama Güvenlik ve Operasyon Timi). If you google that you will see some photos.

This SOH name is better than DAGOT and it also rhymes with other Turkish SF units. :)

JOH - Jandarma Ozel Harekat (Gendarmerie Special Forces)
POH - Polis Ozel Harekat (Police Special Forces)
SOH - Sahil Ozel Harekat (Coast Guard Special forces)
Media called them many names DEGAK,SAGET,DAGOT etc. but there was no offical statement about the name, now CG commander himself called the unit SÖH.Perhaps like you say they changed their name...

Good News. But sometimes less is more, but SPECIALISATION Counts !

I all SF mentioned are already ETHNIC TURKS

@Deno @Neptune

German Organization if we say very SPECIAL Teams !

Army :

KSK

Navy:

Marine Combat Divers

Coast GUARD :

BEK 3 Boarding Team 3

Military Anti- Terror

Task Force 47

Police :

Federal GSG 9 (legitimated for abroad operations against crime )

Special Police Forces of the Federal States (38) , SEK and MEK (always Mobile and observating)
- with Special Snipers, high technical skill for bugs, car opening, immobilizing on the drive and gps devices e.g. !

Customs:

ZUZ

The others are not worth to mention, cause they are specialists for remote identifying targeting and communications integrated in Paratrooper bataillions ! What is today a Routine Job.

Looks like they have copied SAT's black kit too

Does anyone know the current state of the marines? Evidently TSK is 'modernising' its units, but i have not seen a single thing about them? @-DENO-

I had posted things in general including your question at Naval programs thread mate. Its gotta be a couple pages back

Bro DEGAK, SAGET and DAGOT all have different duties, they are different units. SOH will only replace DAGOT and if the CG commander himself called the unit SOH then the name change is official.

SAT commandos executing diffrent scenarios for MARSEC COE members&trainees from 2013-2014.

Also there will be a big exercise called EXER-MARSEC 2015 in september involving Navy and CG.

What about executive legal right for them abroad, anti piracy and anti crime ops. ? French warship captains have same rights as a french governour and in German warships are GSG 9 POLICE present.

All of them are matter of SAT & Coast Guard VBSS units like the hijacked ferry by PKK terrorists in Marmara sea 4 years ago. SAT unit of the Naval Forces rescued ıt and killed 2 terrorists with no casualities

@-DENO- Bro. You misunderstood. Abroad operations as example Kismetim 1. Example at Somalian Coast. French captains as executor of Governors arrest them and transport them to anti piracy courts, same as Germans transport them to anti piracy special court in Hamburg. Shot and kill ok. But when they are arrested ?

The Navy has actively taken part or do periodically take part in three joint counter piracy/CT missions.

1- Operation Ocean Shield. Unit: SNMG-1/SNMG-2. Its rotated between the two NATO fleets in a six month period. But DZKK doesn't prefer to attend to section 1 of standing allied maritime groups. It's the SNMG-2 and the SNMCG-2. Currently SNMCG-2 is led by Turkey and also a frigate is supporting OAE as part of SNMG-2.

2- Operation Active Endeavor, unit: SNMG-2.

In these operations above, technically our ships and sailors belong to NATO and act in accordance with ROEs and regulations set by MARCOM (Allied Maritime Command) when the ship serves under NATO jurisdiction.

These jurisdictions are simply patrolling and neutralising piracy threats. If detainees are taken. No matter where you catch them and whether they are captured by USN or DZKK, you read miranda rights to them. They don't have any rights as prisoners have until delivered to local authorities, by law they are military detainees. If they are caught on the territorial waters of a sovereign nation, we hand them over to that respective country. If captured in international waters, what we generally do is handing them over to USN or RN. There they identify the individual suspects and transfer them to their country's law enforcement, 90% its Somalia.

But there's also another case, if they are detained aboard a Turkish flagged merchant vessel or passenger vessel. The commanding officer and the XO are instructed to lock them down aboard the ship as the detainees of the Republic of Turkey-Turkish Armed Forces, but await further orders by the Force HQ to throw them back to Turkish mainland for trials and charged with various laws from CMK to national maritime security regulations. But never seen or heard it happened before.

There's also CTF-151, the jurisdiction is pretty much the same as NATO's.
