And some people belive they can ally with Assad? A regime who has for decades supported PKK against Turkey and uses Afrin as a tool for aggression by the PKK for the favor of the Assad regime against oppositions forces (including opposing Kurds who are anti-PKK-Assad) as well as dispatching PKK terrorists into Turkey to do suicide bombings.

Turkey accuses Syrian regime of opening pathway for Kurdish militants to Afrin

Turkish sources accused the Syrian regime of opening a pathway for members of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) from Aleppo to the Kurdish-controlled city of Afrin in northern Syria.

..Turkey’s Anadolu news agency quoted “reliable sources” as saying that “the Syrian regime allowed members of the organization that occupies Sheikh Maqsood neighbourhood in Aleppo to send reinforcements to Afrin through areas under its control”.

The sources added that “cars loaded with personnel and ammunition left Sheikh Maqsood neighbourhood heading to Afrin, through the towns of Nobl and Zahra, controlled by the Syrian regime northwest of Aleppo”.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that it had sent the Syrian regime a written message through Russia informing it of the military operation in Afrin, but the Syrian regime denied receiving any notification or message in this regard.

They never were truly powerful or capable militarily, they exploited the weaknesses and internal crisis situations of Iraq and Syria to paint that image with western media help. The Peshmerga has barely done anything against IS but dig trenches and pose with camera's, they stand no chance neither does the YPG. Kurds are blinded by nationalism, until you show them this they won't accept it. Once you do that you have far less problems, like in Iraq where the KRG is in its place now.

It is true that the Kurds are over 'heroized' in western medias. They are "the ones who stood up against ISIS",you would believe they are the ones who completely defeated ISIS when the Iraqis did by far the most difficult fightings (Ramadi,Fallujah,Mosul to name few) but they aren't given the same glory. You never hear about the bad sides..... such as marxists who are sometimes involved in ethnic cleansing....

You would also think they are so powerful and invincible. However this image given to them was as the speed of light eroded when the Iraqis reconquered their northern territories. And it seems to be the same with this current Turkish operation.
